America has always been more of an idea than a landmass. Unlike Germans or Irish who gain their nationality simply by virtue of being born to a particular geographic location, generations of immigrants became Americans by virtue of a dream. Call it ideology, call it the American Dream of legend it matters not. Without the dream the geography has no more meaning than any other plot of ground. The idea of freedom of action, freedom of thought and freedom of property makes it land worth living on. The land of a tyrant is suitable only for a grave. Without the ideals of the founding fathers America is no better than any tin-horn dictatorship. I will not cry over the demise of such a nation. I will as our forefathers did pledge my life, treasure and sacred honor to the preservation, and if necessary restoration of the idea that is the true America.
