I’m taking Rush’s idea. We lost the election, and by a lot.

This is all so bad that all we can do is laugh, because if we started crying there would be no end to it.

Of course the Toronto Star thinks this is a travesty of justice.

Canada has some pretty tight rules about who crosses their border. I went on a charter fishing trip in BC with a friend and 1/2 dozen other guys he worked with a couple years ago. One of the guys got turned around once the ferry got there as he'd had a DUI over 10 years before.

They have instant access to any infraction you've ever made, so it's no surprise that Ayers was not allowed nor ever will be allowed north of the border.

BTW, the fellow that got turned back wasn't driving at the border, and lost his $750 he paid the charter company.

I was allowed entry in 1989, I had a DUI 3 years previous. I’m no expert in Canadian law but I do believe it is considered to be a felony, not a simple vehicular crime.

“Canada turns him back, but our university system takes him in. Speaks volumes about what is wrong with our country at this point in history.”

Exactly. At the very least it speaks volumes about what is wrong with our universities. If things continue as they are there is a good chance that higher education will go the way of the MSM and become a casualty of technology driven alternatives. If one can learn the same things online, in less time, with less expense, and do as well or better on standardized tests, the sanctity of a university education will be at question, and employers will also start to rethink who they hire.

Good for you, Canada!!

I only wish our Universities and the PE were so discerning.

Yes, they are the same newspaper that also want that other terrorist Omar Khadr repatriated from the prison in Guantanimo Bay.

Canada can even refuse to admit you with a DUI/DWI conviction.

Canada’s smart....keep trouble away as long as possible.

And, interesting that Canada could identify an American who had a DUI 10 years before but systems used for our elections can’t identify valid voter registrations...or if someone is trying to vote 10 yrs after they’ve died...

Canada is trying to make up for their geese bringing down that US Airways plane a few days ago.

I guess Ayers wanted a short vacation after his efforts helping with tomorrow's inaugural address...I assume he intended to be back in time to celebrate Saul Alinsky's 100th birthday later this month.

Remeber that during the election every bed-wetting liberal excoriated Sarah Palin for saying that Obama “pals around with terrorists.” None of these liberals ever said whether they disputed that Bill Ayers was a terrorist or just that Obama had palled around with him.

Now that Canada that turned Ayers away I’m sure the liberals will go after them the way they went after Palin. (yeah, right!)

Anyone touched by the Messaiah Obama is immediately cleansed of all wrong doing. Didn’t the bureaucrats in Canada get the memo?

“”Canada’s smart....keep trouble away as long as possible.””

I hate to rain on the parade of love for Canada on this thread but if they were so smart why do so many of our criminals flee to Canada to avoid prosecution?

They are notoriously slow to return such individuals to the U.S. to face justice. The courts there are incredibly liberal and it can take years and years for wanted individuals to be returned.

Just my .02 but this story made me smile anyways.

The information is readily available, as Joe the Plumber and Buckhead found out.

“Canada turns him back, but our university system takes him in. Speaks volumes about what is wrong with our country at this point in history.”

University lib arts departments appear to be totally broken. I no longer consider a college degree in other than the sciences or engineering to be little better than a high school degree - and an “education” degree to be worth nothing at all.

(I know there are plenty of folks with those credentials who are brilliant...but I consider their brilliance to be in spite of their “education”, not a result of it.)

Ok, OK, so I’m becoming lib-like.

Try “consider” instead of “no longer consider”.

I had an Obama moment.

That was twenty years ago. Times have changed. When we cross the border into Canada, they do have the authority to turn us away for a DUI or any other criminal offense. A couple of years ago my husband and I both took trips to our northern neighbors and made separate entries with different members of the same family from Australia. When we returned, it was obvious they were keeping track of our times of re-entry and they even woke up the ten year old we had in the back seat to ask him questions. Before we went to Canada we were told that we would need notarized papers signed by the absent parent that we had permission to take the children across the border.
Bill Ayers playing the wide-eyed innocent is disgusting.
