Die-hard Republicans wait for Obama shine to fade

WASHINGTON (AFP) – This week may see the biggest presidential inauguration in US history, but conservative uber-pundit Bill Kristol has vowed to leave Washington until the Obama mania subsides.

For his part, right-of-center radio talkshow host Rush Limbaugh declares he will be "the last man standing," and will never give in to fervour surrounding new president Barack Obama.

While much of the United States is all aflutter about the inauguration of a Democrat, some conservatives -- embittered by losing the White House for the first time in eight years -- say they will sit out the inauguration festivities.

"I disagree fervently with the people on our side of the aisle who have caved and who say, 'Well, I hope he succeeds. We've got to give him a chance,'" Limbaugh said on his program last week.

The arch-conservative radio commentator has said he is immune to Obama's message of hope and reconciliation, and said he has every reason to be unmoved, even if a large number of Republicans have joined the bandwagon.

"I've been listening to Barack Obama for a year-and-a-half. I know what his politics are. I know what his plans are, as he has stated them. I don't want them to succeed," he said.

Kristol, editor of the conservative Weekly Standard magazine, took umbrage in a recent column in the New York Times at the "presumption" of Obama's handlers of linking the president-elect's inauguration to that of his idol, Abraham Lincoln.

"It might be a good idea if, when he takes the oath, Obama makes sure that the Good Book is open to Proverbs 16:18, and its reminder that 'Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall,'" he wrote last month.

In reality, the fading has already commenced.

Given the MSM’s upcoming coverups, it’ll take around six months for the public to realize that we’ve hit those birds, lost power...but don’t have a competent USAFA grad and fighter pilot at the helm.

We’ve got an “uh” saying dope fiend.

Perhaps this clown is God’s punishment for the acceptance,by the public, of baby murder, homosexual sodomy, sedition, treason, narcotics and alcohol abuse, greed and other indicia of vice addiction.

“Luster??? This guy is not more than a Lawn Jockey in that he looks good, but serves no real puropse and has no record of achievement to boot.”

Zero is p.r. dream. He is so manufactured that a lawn jockey or that wax figure of him as Madame Taussauds (sp?) have more passion and smarts than he has. He is the choice of a “new generation.” Yes, he can! This guy is a walking slogan factory, not Presidential timber.

Die-hard Republicans wait, while die-hard patriots actually WORK to dim his propaganda induced shine.

Well said.

Meanwhile, patriots' continue to battle to enforce the constitution while Rush and others have surrendered to the notion that the constitution is anachronistic.

"I know what his plans are, as he has stated them. I don't want them to succeed," he said."

I am a loyal fan and huge admirer of Rush Limbaugh. I believe that he may the greatest extemporaneous orator of our time.

Having said that, and acknowledging that there may be some nuanced meaning to the quote above (I heard him say it), I think he may be just a bit off.

I actually hope that his plans succeed, because of the benefits that accrue to America if they do.

Having said that, the laws of nature and economics make it a certainty that they will not succeed.

Therefore our "hopes" and "wants" in this matter are meaningless.

I'm not sure what's going on with Obama, but it's starting to scare the hell out of me.

What's with the Lincoln train tour? He doesn't need to do that, he already won the election. His adoring fans continue to gush over him and his detractors continue to speak out against him.

He's been reaching out to middle of the road republicans and journalists lately. Why? I can't shake the feeling that there's a bigger plan in the works and he wants his support to be very high before it starts taking a big nose dive over his actions.

I didn't notice all this until my wife pointed it out to me a couple of days ago, and now it's been on my brain ever since.

Loved that series “V”. That should be the symbol, as in the Resistance, for the PUBS.

Die-hard Republicans wait for Obama shine to fade

Anybody with a lick of common sense, regardless of political affiliation, knows that no mere mortal can possibly live up to the shine that the liberal news media has artificially put on Obama.

You are very wrong. I have strongly disagreed with many freepers who are obsessed with this silly birth certificate issue because it is going no where. It is a waste of energy and time.
