More than two-dozen candidates will run for the seat vacated by White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel in the 5th district of Illinois. Filing closed late Monday.
Fifteen Democrats, six Republicans and five Green Party candidates will compete in a March 3 primary, with the winners facing off in an April 7 general election.
The Democrat who wins the primary will be heavily favored in the district, which stretches from the shores of Lake Michigan to the suburbs around O'Hare Airport. Barack Obama won nearly three in four votes in the district.
Democrats with an early head start include state Reps. Sara Feigenholtz and John Fritchey, Chicago Alderman Patrick O'Connor and Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley. Some expect attorney Tom Geoghegan to compete seriously for the seat.

is that the same emanuel who said that republicans can go f’k themselves? the same guy who said that millions of his fellow citizens can go f’k themselves? the same guy, who iN a position of power, is telling his fellow citizens to go f’k themselves? the same guy who must realize that saying that his fellow citizens can go f’k themselves while he is in a position of responsiblity and power is very threatening and intimidating? is that the guy?

Facts are facts. The Democrats won’t lose this seat, and there are not enough “total non-leftist votes” in this Congressional District for any Republican to actually have a serious shot at this seat.

So many choices.... who's a deady guy to vote for? Perhaps the Dems could nominate someone dead. This way the dead won't be so disenfranchised after voting Dem all these years.
