This will end in tears. The Obama hysteria is not merely embarrassing to witness, it is itself contributory to the scale of the disaster that is coming. What we are experiencing, in the deepening days of a global depression, is the desperate suspension of disbelief by people of intelligence - la trahison des clercs - in a pathetic effort to hypnotise themselves into the delusion that it will be all right on the night. It will not be all right.
We have been here before. In the spring of 1997, to be precise, when a charismatic, young prime minister entered Downing Street, cheered by children bussed in for the occasion waving plastic Union Jacks. A very few of us at that time incurred searing reproaches for denouncing the Great Charlatan (as I have always denominated Tony Blair) and dissenting from the public hysteria. Three times a deluded Britain elected that transparent fraud. Yesterday, when national bankruptcy became a formal reality, we reaped the bitter harvest of the Blair/Brown imposture.
The burnt child, contrary to conventional wisdom, does not fear the fire. After the Blair experience there is no excuse for anybody in Britain falling for Obama. Yet today, in this country, even some of those who remained sane during the emotional spasm of the Diana aberration are pumping the air for Princess Barack. At a time of gross economic and geopolitical instability throughout the Western world, this is beyond irresponsibility.

Mostly people were mad at Republicans or had some other issues. The vast majority of the "intelligent" looking people who voted for him have a veneer of intelligence with no philosophical grounding. One way you can tell is by the cartoonish TV drama shows they watch.
If I were a Russian or Chinese leader I would be salivating at the opportunity to finally destabilize the USA. The communists have been trying for some time, but they've always underestimated the freedom minded folks of the USA, so their plans have taken much longer than anticipated.
Were I a communist leader I would pour significant resources towards further American destabilization. Were I the Russians, I would work via proxy through Iran to further these goals and continue to poke and prod the US forces in the region in an attempt to tear down all that the Bush Administration has accomplished. Simultaneously I move to take back Poland and Ukraine. All the while I would increase support of the American leftists now that they are firmly in control.
All the while the Chinese leadership is salivating at taking Taiwan. When the US and NATO have their hands full with the Middle East and Russia, China will strike Taiwan and they will strike hard.
I was going to say a big heaping pile of garbage.
There’s a good side to it...Bush sold us out to the big money multinationalists...But now he’s gone...
B. Hussein will have to finish the job...We can blame him instead of Bush...
Ping!
He’s a poser, and he knows it. He’s more concerned with how he looks to everybody else. He knows he hasn’t a clue but it sure is fun to play dress up and order everyone around. Wait til he actually has to govern, and then we’ll see real fear.
More gubmint cheese is not the answer, but seems to be the only one offered.
This has not begun well and it will not end well.
I was flabbergasted. Who cares about all the babies that will continue to die, as long as the soldiers can come home tomorrow. She's supposed to be so bright - but she believed a liberal politician - that tells ya something right there!
Even when someone feeds him the lines in an oath, he’ll still botch them.
What about the war in Darfur which will not make America any safer?
Brokaw also equated the change of power to the Velvet Revolution, the term used for the overthrow of Czechoslovakias communist regime in 1989.
Talk about a Pravda worthy Stalinist LIE. We are being SOLD INTO SOCIALISM, not casting it off.
I loathe the Left.
As a non-Catholic who frequently attends mass, I am not comfortable with “glad-handing” “Catholics” who voted for Obama.
That you're surprised by it is ... well, surprising.
Surely you recall Mr. Gingrich similarly fawning over Bill Clinton even as the Clinton was manhandling him like a prison bitch?
Newt likes power more than he likes truth. He's just as narcissistic as Obama, and he's drawn to those whose success in gaining power exceeds his own. It's this sort of behavior that explains why I lost my last shred of trust in Newt Gingrich in about 1995.
Actually, it was "there's an Angel in the whirlwind directing this storm".
Last night on the radio I heard a blurb that shocked me. I've not heard it again nor seen any confirmation of it on the web. It said that The ObamaNation has issued an Executive Order putting a hold on all Executive Orders of his predecessor. Does anyone know anything about this?
This?
“What, for the love of Trotsky, does it take to impress a seagull?”
A stale piece of bread. A stale crumb left over from last weeks lunch. They’re easy.
And after we furnish them with the fruits of truth only then will their blindness be cured.
Now for you rednecks like me and need a translation, lets kick some a$$ and royally screw up all their dreams of a perfect world.
Or to boil it down further and quote one of my favorite movies, Serenity:
"So no more running. I aim to misbehave."
England should recognize it they saw this before with Lady Di. The princess has been dead how amny years and she is still able to draw adoring, weeping crowds?
As for the Brits, my mother called my 93 year old auntie yesterday. Auntie lives in Surrey. She was gushing over our new young president and how excited we must be for these new days. My mother reminded her that we are conservatives not libs so we didn’t vote for him. Then Mother asked about Brown and the upcoming election. My autie’s reply, oh I don’t pay attention to that stuff.
She watches the Beeb with ther toast and tea in the morning, goes out to have lunch with friends and then blissfully snoozes the rest of the day/evening. sigh She votes though...Labour. She detested Margaret Thatcher and changed her party during her tenure.
