Jonathan Turley, a professor of constitutional law at George Washington University, told the Post: He should probably go ahead and take the oath again. If he doesnt, there are going to be people who for the next four years are going to argue that he didnt meet the constitutional standard. Like, oh, I dont know, a Birth Certificate?

I’ll bet you dollars to donuts that he already has done so in the Oval Office sometime yesterday.

Yeah... I should have tried that argument on my TI. "Sarge, I didn't say the oath exactly right"

(No, pundits strongly believe that the proper solution is more dilution.)

I thought he became president at noon on Jan 20 — the oath does not really mean anything. I don’t like typing that, but I think it’s a cold fact. Am I wrong?

Might save Bambi a perjury charge if he does not restate it.

True. If the Supremes felt that the oath needed to be redone, I’m sure it was already handled.

We have more serious problems that whether he swears to faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States or execute faithfully the Office of President of the United States.
The Chief Justice administered the oath. The President-elect repeated it. It was witnessed by the Nation.

This is silly. I’m sure he retook the oath already if there was a question, and I’m sure the paperwork that he signed was proper. If not, retaking the oath is a matter of simple procedure and does not need to be televised.

I also read where the public oath we witnessed yesterday was a formality—the official oath was given earlier in the day.

The presidential oath of office is required of a new president before he can execute his power, and the Constitution is clear that its 35 words must be spoken exactly. "Klaatu Verada N.....Necktie....Nickel....It's an "N" word, it's definitely an 'N' word!"
