Hmmmm. . . odd, isn’t it.

Very interesting, now that you mention it.

It would be better if every potential shooter was concerned that someone in the building might have a gun. The 4/16 gunman went to every classroom on the floor to make sure no police were present.

Believe me I have thought of that. I believe I as the purchaser would land in jail as well.

I had quite few classes in Norris Hall when I was an engineering under-grad at Tech.

If someone had done the same thing Cho did in, say, 1984 during one of my classes in that building he may have been in for a BIG ‘ol .45 ACP surprise.

“Carrying” where carrying is prohibited. Illegal? Yes. Potentially life-saving? Absolutely!!

Probably.

But the way I see it, one needs to balance that risk - relatively slight, IMO, if both parent and "child" are VERY descreet, against the benefit - allowing one's "child" the means to save his/her own life in the event of an attack.

Of course, I am assuming the "child" alreadty knows how to handle a gun, or some serious training is needed before they should be allowed to carry.

Well, our constitution says the government is not ALLOWED to infringe on our rights, but it doesn’t guarantee it WON’T.

That part is up to us.

“Call 9-1-1 and (watch while another person) dies.”

Bingo!

Slain student called 911, but no one came in time

Police did not respond to her call for help for 48 minutes

I drove a tow truck when I was in college. A lot of my work was repossessions (really good money), and I carried a handgun and had a shotgun in the cab, and kept them both in my dorm room. This was in Los Angeles back in the 70’s.

“What’s with the Graduate Students at VT? is the real question.”

“Cho’s biggest beef was with Nikki Giovanni’s pointless lectures and random grading scheme.”

Yeah that would be the reason he killed 32 people. Not.

“The VT administration is most certainly responsible for requiring the victim in this case to be disarmed. “

Responsible for not allowing a Chinese national to be armed? Really?

Well, they’re A LOT further away than I am (only 65 miles), and I somehow manage to restrain myself from going on killing rampages. God knows how! But I do it!

When Virginia Tech authorities arrived Wednesday night at a cafe inside the Graduate Life Center, they found a decapitated female victim who arrived on campus just two weeks ago and a young man they have now charged with killing her.

Michael Smith in the English Department is a PC loon.

I had him for Freshman English. I quickly discovered that his favorite band is The Who. I simply quoted them in every paper, and I got an A.

I’m sure everyone is at a loss because Blacksburg and Virginia Tech are really so idyllic in so many ways.

Crime happens anywhere. Which is why people with carry permits should be able to carry them everywhere.
