In a stunning revelation, a source close to Gov. David Paterson insisted this afternoon that the governor "had no intention" of picking Caroline Kennedy for New York's vacant senate seat - because she was "mired" in an issue over taxes, her nanny and possibly her marriage.

there is no way she wouldn’t be confirmed.
She’s a democRat, with a democRat congress, and to top it off, she’s a Kennedy, an elite. She would have sailed through with a free lunch to boot.
Tax issues? Nanny issues? What’s the problem? Doesn’t the Princess know that Democrats are exempt from the laws? Only Republicans or Conservatives are subject to the law.

She really sounds perfect for New York politics, so I have a feeling there is something more to it. I heard that he will appoint Cuomo, who wants to run against him for Governor in a couple years, so Cuomo really doesn't want it and Patterson doesn't want Cuomo in the race 'cause he'll definitely lose then.

Myself, I think she realized it would be more work than play. It would take more time than she’d ever devoted to anything, and it would wreck any semblance of privacy she’d built up. It was a toy idea, born in her shallow excitement over how Obama’s talent for speechifying reminded her of Camelot days gone.

I immediately began to wonder about potential “marital issues” once Caroline Kennedy’s name came up as a potential successor and Caroline Schlossberg Kennedy vanished into thin air.

She said early on her children were encouraging her to “get involved”,they urged her to work for Obama and probably to get her to Washington so they could party on without her intervening.
That has always surprised me about her. Her mother, father and brother were all physically very attractive, but she is not. Maybe if she ate a few cheeseburgers and kept her mouth shut.
