Obama adviser: White males need not apply

A top economic adviser to President Obama has told a congressional panel the billions of dollars in the proposed economic stimulus plan should be allocated with social issues in mind, to make sure the money doesn't go to just "white male construction workers" or the highly skilled.

Robert Reich, who served as labor secretary under President Clinton, was speaking to the House Steering and Policy Committee Jan. 7 about funding infrastructure projects across the nation.

"It seems to me that infrastructure spending is a very important and good way of stimulating the economy. The challenge will be to do it quickly, to find projects that can be done that will have a high social return, that also can be done with the greatest speed possible," Reich said.

"I am concerned, as I'm sure many of you are, that these jobs not simply go to high skilled people who are already professionals or to white male construction workers," he said.

Don’t worry, the money will most likely go to white male contractors and Mexican construction workers.

Good luck finding enough black male construction workers that either a) have the know-how or intelligence, or b) have the will TO WORK for a living.

Or.....are they planning on hiring illegal Mexican males for these construction jobs? I can see it now. Additional budgetary allocations for on-site Spanish translations running into millions of dollars (at taxpayer’s expense, of course).

These idiot DemocRats won’t quit until ALL taxpayers are unemployed and on welfare. Only problem is....

Robert Reich talked about how he was “concerned that these jobs not simply go to high skilled people who are already professionals or to white male construction workers" What he is saying is that guys with real skills and abilities to do the job won’t be hired to do work requiring real skills and abilities.

This is dangerous thinking, and what immediately came to mind was a passage from Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. In the book, when the South American copper magnate Francisco D'Anconia was asked about the spectacular failure of a giant mining venture, he explains that he ran it according to the moral principles everyone kept telling him to follow: he worried only about providing employment to his workers, not about producing an actual product; he hired his employees only the basis of their "need." When he hired a mining specialist to run the operation, D'Anconia explains that "He wasn't a very good specialist, but he needed the job very badly."

If you haven’t read the book recently, do so. It provides a very clear description of the problems we will have in our walk to socialism and bigger government under the 0bama regime. If government control and spending could lead to prosperity, the Soviet Union, Cuba and Zimbabwe would be the economic engines of the world.

Kind of along the same lines as what Jaques Nassar said at Ford not long before he was ousted as the President of that company. Probably reduced F-150 sales by about 20% with that silly statement.
