Drango - Good points. I am not a true libertarian, we have to legislate morality - I personally don’t want people free to run around killing and stealing. But it is a very slippery slope, where is the line? Whose morality is better, yours or mine? I don’t know. Sometimes these kinds of issues raise more questions than give answers, but that isn’t a bad thing. Thanks for your reply, I like to look at all sides and you have given me food for thought.

Taxation to adjust people's behavior is the tool of socialists and tyrants. Which I will oppose.

I and many conservatives support a tax increase on tobacco.
That does not seem conservative to me.
So what is next, after you tax a plant out of existence? (Which won't happen because it will be an endangered and protected species long before the last plant is gone).
Cars kill a lot of people every year, hell, people kill a lot of people every year. Maybe we ought to tax people out of existence?
Then no one would get killed!

You may have a personal hard on for tobacco, but the facts are simple. We all make choices, those choices affect how long we live, and sometimes how long the people who choose to be around us do. All part of the package. Grow up and handle it and mind your own business.
