Limbaugh Responds to Obama
National Review ^ | 1/24/09 | Byron York

Posted on 01/24/2009 1:06:04 PM PST by JRochelle

According to an account in the New York Post, President Barack Obama yesterday told Republican leaders, "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done." With George W. Bush now off the stage, it may be that Obama and some of his fellow Democrats view Limbaugh, and not John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, or any other elected official, as the true leader of the Republican opposition. This morning I asked Rush for his thoughts on all this, and here is his response:

There are two things going on here. One prong of the Great Unifier's plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters and supporters by making the argument about me and not about his plan. He is hoping that these Republicans will also publicly denounce me and thus marginalize me. And who knows? Are ideological and philosophical ties enough to keep the GOP loyal to their voters? Meanwhile, the effort to foist all blame for this mess on the private sector continues unabated when most of the blame for this current debacle can be laid at the feet of the Congress and a couple of former presidents. And there is a strategic reason for this.

Secondly, here is a combo quote from the meeting:

"If we don't get this done we (the Democrats) could lose seats and I could lose re-election. But we can't let people like Rush Limbaugh stall this. That's how things don't get done in this town."

To make the argument about me instead of his plan makes sense from his perspective. Obama's plan would buy votes for the Democrat Party, in the same way FDR's New Deal established majority power for 50 years of Democrat rule, and it would also simultaneously seriously damage any hope of future tax cuts. It would allow a majority of American voters to guarantee no taxes for themselves going forward. It would burden the private sector and put the public sector in permanent and firm control of the economy. Put simply, I believe his stimulus is aimed at re-establishing "eternal" power for the Democrat Party rather than stimulating the economy because anyone with a brain knows this is NOT how you stimulate the economy. If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of this TRILLION dollar debacle.

Obama was angry that Merrill Lynch used $1.2 million of TARP money to remodel an executive suite. Excuse me, but didn't Merrill have to hire a decorator and contractor? Didn't they have to buy the new furnishings? What's the difference in that and Merrill loaning that money to a decorator, contractor and goods supplier to remodel Warren Buffet's office? Either way, stimulus in the private sector occurs. Are we really at the point where the bad PR of Merrill getting a redecorated office in the process is reason to smear them? How much money will the Obamas spend redecorating the White House residence? Whose money will be spent? I have no problem with the Obamas redoing the place. It is tradition. 600 private jets flown by rich Democrats flew into the Inauguration. That's fine but the auto execs using theirs is a crime? In both instances, the people on those jets arrived in Washington wanting something from Washington, not just good will.

If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of the trillion dollar debacle.

One more thing, Byron. Your publication and website have documented Obama's ties to the teachings of Saul Alinksy while he was community organizing in Chicago. Here is Rule 13 of Alinksy's Rules for Radicals:

"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

I just sent this message to my senator. I suggest you do the same.

“Obama’s recent attack on Rush Limbaugh is nothing more than an abuse of an elected official’s power to limit a private citizen’s free speech. I hope you do not listen to the anointed one. I would be very please if you obtained and wore an EIB lapel pin to show your support for free speech and to allow voters to know you are not a traitor to the people who elected you.”

In just 3 days, the War on Terror became the War on Free Speech.

For many Americans, the ENTIRE POINT of the ‘08 election was to be part of the novelty of electing the first black President.

That accomplished, the novelty is wearing off. Quick.

then they are about to learn a lesson.

To Wit: Contary to the old saying that what you don't know won't hurt you, That what you don't know can and will hurt you very badly.

And that elections have consequences.

Obama is bringing a pea shooter to gun fight.

That is dangerously dismissive.

Exactly. It's Obama's opening salvo in the War on Free Speech.

The key words in this quote of Limbaugh's is "eternal power for the Democratic Party."

This just cannot be allowed to happen.

At least FDR had a war and recognized the enemy as the enemy. Obama is hoisting the white flag to terrorism while posing Limbaugh and his republicans as the enemy.

In just 3 days, the War on Terror became the War on Free Speech. ZeroBama is more frightened of Rush Limbaugh than Al Qaeda...

Hey, Rush! Did you see this?

From this point on, if Rush stubs his toe, I'll blame it on the Democrats.

Kind of like what Don Corleone said at that Mafia leader conference about anything - ANYTHING - misfortunate happening to Michael.

Thank you for this post.

I'm ashamed to say that other than casting a vote every couple of years, I do nothing else.

But I know in my heart that now is the time for "boots on the ground" activism by conservatives, Republicans, liberatarians, Christians.

Yes Rush knows what Barack is up to,however the leadership of the GOP is from what I can see more interested in sucking up to barack than opposing him never forget that it is the “Country Club “ republicans that are running the party & they despise the cloth coat & libertarian wings of the party.

There are days when I want to just put my blinders on, go do my job, come home and close off the world. Just go about my business.

Yet, there is that part of me I can't ignore that says exactly what you said, that if I shut out Rush, Free Republic, Townhall, and what is going on in the world, then I feel unprotected.

Four days in and he’s worried about the 2012 election? That’s the last thing he should be worried about now.

Why? I mean the first thing he did after winning a senate seat was begin his campaign for President.

(Please excuse compressd nature of my post. All I hav for FReeping is an old Palm Lifedrive... No cut&paste, spell-ck, tiny editbuffer to write in, etc.)

I noticed in one of your posts, you're concerned Obie is manipulating the masses, but Rush isn't even trying to do so.

Being LDS, I guess my POV is a little different. A major point of LDS Church's doctrine is the principle of Free Agency. We can choose what we do, but not the results. A corillary is manipulating others is an offense against God. If we work in harmony w/God, he will help "fence-sitters" to understand the nature & seriousness of Obie's threat to Liberty.

I think what we need to do is for each & everyone of us to learn absolutely everything we can about: the Founding Fathers, the Founding of our Republic, how it was meant to work, who damaged it (ex. Wilson, FDR, etc), how it was damaged, why self-responsibility is imporant undr governmnt, why governmnt likes uneducated voters, etc.

This used to be taught in public schools,(watered-down). It isn't being taught at all now.

BTW: A great starting point for learning all this is "Five Thousand Year Leap; Principles of Freedom 101" by W. Cleon Skousen.

Armed w/all this knowledge, each of us must teach his neighbor, as much as they'll let us. It'll probably only be a few words dropped here & there to begin -but once we start to whet people's thirst for knowledge of Liberty they'll want more & more. There is a drought of knowledge of Liberty, & Rats like Obie have tried to poison the roots of what is still remembered by mischaracterizing our Country's origins, roots, & icons. Its proving very hard for them, but until now they've had no opposition.

Once the electorate knows the Foundations of Liberty, it doesn't matter what Obie & friends do. It will be seen for what it is.

That's why I'm glad Rush isn't using manipulation. (the foregoing extremely simplified because of PDA..)

There is also the factor of the greatly decentralized structure of communications today as opposed to FDR’s day when there was a monolithic national structure of telecommunications that will never be seen again.

The One is going to try and dominate through the knee-padding of the MSM and both he and they will go down hard. All the money of George Soros funding all of the Marxist blogs that they can muster will not be able to control it again as they did for this election.

Soros needs to spend no more money. He already owns their minds.

The people I know in education still believe that Obama is the change we need and that conservatives are mean spirited and uneducated.

If there is a breakout in conservative values, it will not come from the republicans, the press or the educrats. Most likely, the failing government finances will cause a new leader to rise; but that will be after a terrible crash.

You are certainly right about the educrats and one of the things that is going to become evident in the next years is how bad they are for this country as what they are “teaching” and reality become ever more disparate.
