I agee! When a candidate states he doesn't want the bases' vote, his will to win is questionable.
That Battleground shows that only 11-14% of the electorate is moderate/undecided(combined) & that he expected that percentage to carry him to victory throws his judgement into question. It also shows, regardless of party, 57-68%(over13yrs) of the electorate is in the Conservative spectrum, the voters JM stated he didn't want or need.
That he could have run the honorable type of campaign he stated he desired while highlighting BO's Socialist & Oppressive Governmentalist agenda - but did not - raises questions.
To answer those questions, we must look at JM's actions. Motives are ephemeral, actions are concrete & lasting. That's why centuries of wisdom is summed in the proverb: "by their fruits shall you know them..."! The lesson of the good tree=good fruit/bad tree=bad fruit is a person can say anything, but what they consistantly do shows the true intent!

Whether you're religious or not, the Bible contains wisdom collected & tested in the only lab that matters: the real world.

I also find it passing strange so many people proclaim 4yrs heroism of 50+ ago excuses: lying to our face (Amnesty, RTL, Gun Control, Anti-Earmarks), attacks on our motives carefully disregarding facts (ibid), attacking the Constitution's 1st Amendment (Campaign Finance Reform) & Political Free Speech in general (Wisconson).

When is JM's "Hero Card" used up? Dare we not ever oppose anything he does because he was "such a man"?

Ok, though, I'll play along. JM is & always will be a "hero": even as he uses the original of the Constitution, stored under glass, to light his cigar. Fine, I so stipulate.
JM's agenda, as drawn from his actions & bills he sponsors, when stated is pure Oppressive Governmentalism - ie: Socialism.
Is it ok to oppose that?
And, in order to oppose that, we must oppose its proponent: John McCain.

“Your comments indicate that you have either no heartfelt convictions or yours are not in sympathy with the majority who read these threads.”

Give me a break. Are ANY of you capable of reading? I never defended his politics, what I did is criticized the inability of many here to keep their discourse civil. Go use your armchair psychoanalysis on someone who will hang on your every word, not with me. My SIMPLE point is that any and all posters who need to use foul language, immature imagery and other ridiculous words to convey their disappointment are only demeaning themselves and FR and putting themselves down on the same level as their opposition. JM will not run for President again. I find your and others’ obsession with my criticisms rather pitiful. Your time is better spent PROMOTING a suitable candidate that mirrors your philosophy rather than tearing down one who doesn't. Work toward something, not against a has-been. You will get nowhere for doing so, either, and the Liberals are only cheering you on. Anger and base language has no place in a serious debate. Abysmal ignorance of the Senate's role? LOL! Good thing you don't know who I really am, you'd be rather embarrassed by that assessment. That's all, end of thread.

And, judging from your previous posts, you are a newbie with an agenda. A plant from the Dems perhaps?

Of course, I never expected you to weigh my words... Your comments proclaim: elitist.

I really don't care who you are. Your argumenum ad authoritium shows it all.
Point-of-fact: Many Congress-critters of both Houses have had photo-ops w/my flightcrew, and in speaking w/them I have encountered many who don't understand the Constitution, even when the writers of that document are quoted. So, your placement in a political beauty contest holds no awe.
And, I wouldn't care if you were Limbaugh himself, (or Beck, Hannity, Levin, etc...). You are mistaken in your excoriation of the people here and I will not stand mute!

I have used no foul language, and kept my arguments civil, to the point, and provided support for them. Yet you treat me to the same excoriation you "reserve" for those who you proclaim offend your sensibilities.
Instead, as would any good elitist, you don't answer the arguments but proclaim your station raises you above them. Well, good for you! Are you G(H)WB, Palin, Jindal, or RR?[grin] (btw: RR, can I get your autograph?)
As I stated, the people here feel betrayed. They see that betrayal as ongoing. JM effects the Country w/his votes. JM votes Socialist. Therefore, JM must be defeated at the voting booth. That people need to keep reminding themselves that contrary to his claims, JM's results hurt the Republic is natural because the call on them to vote for him is posed via emotional arguments, not intellectual ones!
If you'd get off your high-horse, you're intelligent enough to see that. Whether you'll admit it is something else. If you really believed what your nagging you'd be setting a better example not denigrating people over an understandable human reaction. Telling people they're trash won't open them to your POV.
And I might point out a minor point: JM has started a PAC to continue molding "R"s into his image & has stated he is seriously thinking of running in 2012. I know he lies, but should we take the chance?

You are accusing me of saying you use foul language? Again, you are quite verbose but unable to read to save your argument. Please quote me where I have done this. I DO care who you are. You are a newbie with a tired agenda against McCain, that much is obvious. It’s a shame you have nothing better to do with your time.

Well, I'm not pushing their agenda. You seem to be, so which of us might be working for ACP?

Newbie? No, the format of my posts is dictated by my method of access.

You see, I'm TDY ex-CONUS, and the Base Commander has a more strict threshold for use of resources... In short, access of political sites using the Bases' PCs is forbidden. I use my P*ersonally O*wned H*andheld, (POH) -- A Palm Lifedrive, it has some limitations: small editbuffer which limits my post size, a single-line editbox so I must scoll rt & left along the 5 words I can see to edit anywhere in the post, the "preview" button and cut&paste don't work, no spell-check, the browser only recognizes a subset of html, and occasionally when I edit characters are dropped after I press "submit".

Whats the excuse for the poor quality of your "me too" posts? Too much AOL?

The nastiest posters - their replies have been so similar it makes me wonder if it was one person - during the election were the McCain supporters.

One of the many negative impression McCain left, in addition to signs of being confused and having memory lapses, was how glibly and how frequently he lied even in cases where is was bound to be exposed - just like a sociopath.

The election was lost the day McCain was nominated. Did anyone really believe he could win? He was creepy, and nobody concerned with the future of the country would ever promote amnesty - he even voted against the Cronyn amendment. Then there is his poor record on the POW/MIA. His treatment of his first wife was outrageous, and who would want Cindy for a First Lady?

Ahh! A comprehension problem!

No dearie, I wan't claiming you were accusing me of foul language, and I clearly comprehend what you write, (though perhaps not what you mean to say...). I learned to read over 60yrs ago... when reading and comprehension were thought important skills. You know, dearie: before they invented photography. You had to paint pictures with words.[wink]

And, just to keep the "Old Fogey/Technologically Ignorant " jokes at bay: my specialty is in the fields of crypto & computer forensics.

And, where I am its in the very early AM, after 30h prep-exercise in MOPP gear (MOPP4: think those decontam suits on TV with a "gas mask" underneath it all...)

I do pretty well for an ancient fossil.

I was pointing out your level of scorn directed at me was akin to what you were directing at those using off-color language.

Well he may regret nothing but a lot of us are still feeling the buyer’s regret of having to select him from a field of crap, crap and more crap just to try to keep more fetid crap like BO Plenty from winning. Oh well McLame, so long and thanks for all the fish.

Many have served their country honorably. Tim McVeigh comes to mind as does Benedict Arnold. Honorable actions in war do not zero out all of the dishonorable things you do and say for the rest of your life. Some out here need to get that straight in their minds.

Dante3, I almost fully agree with your points. Palin was decided on at the last minute to cut off the groundswell for a brokered convention.
Any mediocre strategist would have had several choices on-tap, and then chosen the one who could "take one for the McStumblebum" as it were.[grin]

And I've been guilty of overboard behavor in my postings -- especially after the prep-material from the transition team came down.

I think that the nastiest language abt JN comes from those who knew him least: his previous boosters, but they didn't know what to expect, or they believed JM could alter the trajectory of his nature w/o the mighty effort necessary once you start to coast on years of habit. I've been there, and frankly I haven't noticed JM going to anysuch great effort to really listen to those w/different pov than his.

And, if you look at JM in toto, you see a man who truly believes in Oppressive Governmentalizm. It is as simple as that. If it were otherwise, the bills he sponsors, his off-the-cuff statements, the people he bunches with would be different.

He's said that the D's Socialism was the fine, nothing wrong with it, yet during Reagan's time he said that Rs had "taken the wong path". That he's repeated that sentiment a couple of times is no suprise to anyone over 30.

Well, its been fun, and thanks for the civil discourse. I need to get some sacktime. Good night folks!

RJS, you've gotten it on the nose! I often use the B.Arnold "bury his leg" story to hilight your point, but I've had little luck...
Unfortunately, I don't expect Me-Linda will leave her self-absorbed cocoon to see it.
Its been my experience that people who say "end-of-thread" & aren't actually the moderator are leaving because you're arguing out of their depth.

Well, since I just ckd back just b/f bed, it really is "good night". I'll chk-in tomorrow, incase you-all have any interesting stuff.

"Yet you treat me to the same excoriation you “reserve” for those who you proclaim offend your sensibilities. “

English 101

when "yet" is placed at the end of a list, it signifies a negation of the list. Therefore, I do not accuse you of saying I use foul language.
My Lord, are you ESL? My wife's native language is Mandarin, and she has no difficulty with complex sentences.

What level of education do you have? Have you done post-grad work in any area except the "soft sciences"? I know liberal arts and hard sciences require ability to organize cogent arguments....

"I DO care who you are. You are a newbie with a tired agenda against McCain, that much is obvious."

I don't want you to care who I am, I want you to mount arguments that answer the points made, not simply spew emotions all over like stale vomit!

ItÂ’s a shame you have nothing better to do with your time...

Lady, I'm a Col., USAF. I have many calls on my time, especially with the change in Civilian Control.
I also care about the Constitution and Country I've sworn to defend. I am appalled at your in ability. I can tell that you have a lot potential, but you're wasting it!

What a crime. No wonder we're so badly off.

Yeah, I can spell "excoriate", but not "inability"! :-} Too too easy! What a Maroon!
Did your momma raise you that dumb? Nah, you've worked hard at it, right? Too bad your Momma wasted her time on you!

I knew the mispelling would be irresistable! :-} Liberals can't help but lord-it over others with petty things! Thanks Dippy for exposing your nasty nature to everybody! The predictability is breath-taking!
I was curious if you were still reading this thread. I was certain giving you something uncomplicated a simpleton could understand and claim as a "win" would get a rise out of you!

Thanks again, twit, for responding!
Hey! If I dangle another fish will you clap your flippers and play a tune?

It really is too bad you're not built with enough intellect to respond to the substance of anyone's arguments, even the simplest. You're reduced to petty nit-picking, just like your employer McShame! And he's not getting his money's worth!

I do hope this post isn't too difficult hard for you to understand, after all -- it is written in English!

NB Notice: I CC-ed "all" again! This really *is* too good not to share!
Hey! Everybody! Read MeLinda's exchanges! She's an unintentional hoot!
Bye Bye, twit! Next time be nicer to people and stop lying about them. ;-]

Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the 2008 GOP presidential nominee, said Sunday he had few regrets about his White House campaign

He left the regretting to us.

The exact quote is: "Nice guys finish last."

Actually, according to Durocher himself in his book, the exact quote is two sentences. "Nice guys. Finish last." He said he wasn't making the claim that nice guys couldn't win."
