UK has more consumer debt per-capita than the US.
This thing has ALWAYS been a global problem. Not just the US.
That is why it is going to be so bad.

One could point out that this youtube clip presents a very honest, critical portrayal of consumer overspending.

I still can’t get an idea how this happened. I thought it was only america. BUt apparently it is a problem in all anglo cultures, and likely all western cultures.
How did we get to a point where we have to forcefully say “NO!” to people that want to lend us money? Didn’t it used to be that we had to grovel for lenders to loosen up their purse strings?
I am a person so cautious with my money, and so distrusting that it might actually be a psychosis. I get angry when people try to give me credit cards. Banks are alway pissing me off trying to push lines of credit on me.
It hasn’t happened since the housing crisis thing...but I used to get phone calls from my bank on my cell phone while I was at work to see if I could come in and discuss the credit card I was “pre approved for” or a line of credit, or increasing my overdraft protection, or some other stupid thing.
It was insane.

Not really. The banks had a product they were trying to sell to you, and you had plenty of money to buy it with, which they could tell by your excellent credit rating. It was just pushy salesmanship, that is all.

I’m supposed to go to them if I want their money. NOt the other way around. Something is not right when a bank begs me to borrow their money.

It is unbelievable what the cheap money policy of the United States during the past few years has done to the people of the world.

“Why did you keep taking out the loans?” (that you cannot pay back)
“Because they keep giving them to us.”
Apparently America doesn’t have a total lock on stupidity.
