Letter: So much for colorblindness
The Vacaville Reporter ^ | January 25, 2009 | Gary Webb

I have watched and listened for the past week to the musing of the inauguration, and here is what I have gleaned.

This is obviously the first inauguration of a U.S. president ever, as far as many people in this country are concerned. In fact, there have been several before this; these people chose not to notice.

The honorable Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is famous for his statement, "Judge me not for the color of my skin, but for the content of my character." This is a great philosophy, I agree with and try to abide by.

Yet nowhere have I seen or heard any reference to the character of the incoming administration. All anyone talks about is skin color and race, skin color and race, skin color and race.

For most of my adult life, all I have ever heard is we should be a colorblind society and race should not be a factor.

Yet, for the past several days, race is all that is being talked about. I guess the only ones who are not allowed to talk about race is the ugly white person. It is OK for people of color, or white guilt-ridden liberals, but no one else.

I have no need to think about race. I believe in what Dr. King espoused.

I pray for the incoming administration because I care for my country. I hope after one or two terms for Obama, we don't look like France.

I hope we don't have a Canadian-style national health plan that rations MRI's etc. for those who are deemed not deserving because they are too old or too fat or just too much trouble.

I hope we stop the government takeover of the banks and auto industry that Bush started. I hope we keep funding our military more than our welfare programs.

Most of all, I pray for what Dr. King espoused; yet after what I have observed lately, I think we have a really long way to go. God Bless America.

One upside I see to the election of President Obama is that it should put Sharpton and Jackson out of business.

Not necessarily so.
Some civil rights advocate says that since OB doesn’t have any ‘slave blood’ in him, he doesn’t count as an American Black advancing.....
Should remind him that OB ‘people’ SOLD slaves to the traders..

He also the first elected Democrat in decades not to have a goofy brother we could all laugh at. JFK had Teddy, Jimmy Carter had Billy, and Clinton had Roger.

Just wait. Michelle will soon provide us with a virtual cornucopia of material. She already looks like Patrick Ewing's twin sister.

Funny, but we don’t know anything about his supposed
“8” siblings. Not one of them was at the Inauguration I heard.....strange.

“”Some civil rights advocate says that since OB doesn’t have any ‘slave blood’ in him, he doesn’t count as an American Black”

The statement is absolutely true but I haven’t heard any civil rights advocates or anyone else say it. I’ve been waiting for nearly 2 years for someone to remind the country of that. He is not an African American!!! When you read the words “O” wrote himself about whites, this man is nothing but a “racist” and absolutely clueless.

I have stopped listening to Neal Boortz mornings because he said last week he will not take calls from anyone EVER again who wants to say that “O” isn’t an African American. I feel that anyone who doesn’t want to hear or speak the truth shouldn’t have his own radio talk show.

Let’s open up the discussion regarding MLK. King said a lot of things, some good but mostly he was a disempowered racist and realized that the timing was not conducive for a race riot. MLK was surrounded and influenced by a lot of useful fools of the USSR. He was no saint and it’s bogus that we have to listen to these historical lies about him. What really did he accomplish

Every place you go there is a MLK blvd. It makes it easy to avoid the carjackings and crack dealers.

Like Chris Rock says: “If you live near Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., there’s always something going down there.”

If this inauguration has proved anything, it is the fact that it was easy to be elected president as a black man. (Sorry, but Obama is ambitious, not experienced.) Americans bent over backwards to elect him.

Exactly!

Don't even get me started on the fact he isn't even 'black' in the legal sense, he's biracial.

oBAmbi is a coward and a gay puppet. He just like Bush thinks that we need to get the people spending to solve anything. Bush told us to continue to spend and go to Disney, obambi says the same thing.
