"We don't want to borrow any more money. We have sufficient liquidity to fund our transformation plan, which means our business is in a relatively good shape," Mulally told reporters on the sidelines of the National Automobile Dealers Association convention.

Two thirds of their plants are overseas. They have closing US and Canadian plants like crazy. And much of their business is outside the US.

I owned Japanese (built in America) and own a Ford Fusion now. It is a great car. Assembled in Mexico but it is excellent. Kudos to Ford.

The company I work for sells over 50% of our product to Ford. As they go, so do we.

closing US and Candian plants like crazy...

Well at least they are not mooching off the taxpayers. Regardless of where they are doing, they are doing without needing to be bailed out.

When Congress asked them what their plan was, they should have said, “Well, we’ve eliminated 50,000 US jobs in the last 5 years. We have most of our plants overseas. We’re making money overseas because we don’t have to deal with the UAW. That ought to give you a pretty good idea what our plan is.”

People here were bitching about Mulally’s pay package last year, but if he can really turn the company around without bailouts he's easily worth the $20 million or so he got. Shareholders (and taxpayers) should be grateful.

“Two thirds of their plants are overseas. They have closing US and Canadian plants like crazy. And much of their business is outside the US.”

Can you understand WHY?

NO unions.

No idiotic environMENTAL laws.

NO HIGH COST OF LIVING.

NO threat of “spread the wealth around” with YOUR PROFITS.

Expect MORE manufacturers to go over seas.

If my Civic Si develops one more rattle, I’ll be trading this clunker in on a Ford. If Ford can survive this economic disaster without a loan, they deserve another sale.

Will the US government forgive Ford for being self-reliant? Probably not. They will have to be destroyed, or their capitalist example may stop the socialist future from emerging.

Yet they use a higher % domestic content and build more of the vehicles they sell in the US right here, in the US, than any other automotive company.

They aren’t in as much trouble because they are avoiding unions by moving overseas.

I am buying only Ford now, unless they take my tax money.
