I don't know. It might have been nice last week around the inauguration.
I just read one of the news reports that someone linked to up above, about the State of Emergency in Kentucky. In that news report it said there was about 60,000 without power there.
Well, in Oklahoma, back in December of 2007, it was 600,000 without power... ouch...
Just checked in with my elderly father-in-law in Paragould, Arkansas. He is staying with other relatives because trees are coming down all over his property and he lost power. Now the power is out at the relatives’ house, too, their neighbors’ big Bradford Pears are all down, and they see a power line laying in the middle of the street in front of their house. They don’t have a fireplace. Brrrrr...
Obama hates white people
Turn on your sprinklers and make some Ice Art.
And the idiots in DC knew this was coming since yesterday. Oklahoma declared a State of Emergency in every single one of its counties late last night. I guess DC was too busy getting ready for the Al Gore Bobo's warming presentation tomorrow.
Hey DC. It is not warming anymore. In fact its icing, you idiots ! Have fun tomorrow.
I think we haven't seen much of the expected ice yet. My husband just checked, he says it feels like regular rain now.
Here in Fort Smith, AR (on the Oklahoma border and Arkansas River) we had a lot of ice on everything today, but the roads weren’t bad. Kids were out of school today (they attend Catholic school and they close if the F.S. public schools do). We lost a big branch of our magnolia tree out front. Dh says lots of limbs down all over the city. It rained all day and now the temp has just hit below freezing and it’s sleeting. We’re getting another coating of ice on the trees and such, but it’s hard to tell if the roads are slick. I’m hoping it’s not so bad and the kids go back to school tomorrow (LOL) but we’ll just have to wait until morning to see.
Hearing from local news that NW Arkansas (just up the road)is pretty bad.
And that WASN'T the worst one we've ever had!
It’s gonna be bad in TX, too. It was 46o until a couple hours ago, warm ground, then it dropped to 30 and the rain began 10 minutes ago.
I just came in from checking the truck: hard ice coat in 10 minutes.
I remember seeing actual color footage (and have some) of our troops fighting in the Pacific after we took the Philippines....our Marines were f'n P'o'd after that .... after they had talked to Assuie, Brit, and US POW's we rescued (the few remaining).....a seriously good documentation of the rage of war.....no acting now, no rules for battle in place because we knew by then 99% of the Japs would never surrender and the treatment of our POW's.
I still ponder today how a handful of men decide that killing 60++ million on all sides is 'good' for the Fatherland or the Emperor. That footage was only released to the general public 15 years ago....the first 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan was a good realization of what actually happens in battle....not the sterilized versions.
That still is the greatest generation of Americans to ever exist...we were all in and not plying a fun game of Texas Hold'em.
My guts now tell me we have folks in government that have forgotten history. 9/11 as tragic as it was, doesn't hold a candle to the carnage back then.
Today, IMHO, the libs and socialists and that say they are American can't even stand in the same sun with those that serve and have served this nation and wear the uniform....makes me puke at the mere thought....sorry to rant on...it's a deep burn in my gut.
I would love to see JimRob get permission to permanently store for viewing by all of videos of Reagan's speeches and other great speeches of our nation's leaders that really gave a crap.....
I read all day Tuesday as it snowed here (5 inches and folks can’t drive in it this part of the state) and work was closed.....I got out long enough to go to the zip mart, check the roads, and get a 12pk and then proceeded to enjoy myself knowing what was coming from our new leaders.....
Not good...hope they have lots of quilts and a gas grill for tomorrow morning.
Wow. 10 minutes. That Arctic front is supposed to cover most of the Eastern Plains and East coast by the end of the week. And that is colliding with the warmer tropical front pushing up from the Gulf. The question is how far south the ice storm will get. Hopefully whatever ices up tonight on the southern edge will be melted with rain after the sun comes up tomorrow.
Use your GoreBull air /gas bag to warm it all up...hurry
I noticed when your usually impeccable spelling began to lapse :)
Good Lord, Gwen Ifill is big as a barn (as red, too) on the Daily Show right now, touting her 0 book.
Good for you! I’ve always been a history buff, and am always happy to meet another one here on FR.
In Arkansas, broken tree limbs weighted down by ice crashed onto power lines, cutting service to at least 165,000 homes and businesses. Customers have been warned they could be without power for at least three days. More than 80,000 outages are reported in Kentucky.
I hope Big AlGore slips on the ice and skids right on his keister into the Potomac!
