That case was in Washington stae. It was the child of a Russian woman who worked as a house keeper. Her husband was in the country illegally and was being deported. So she gave her notice to her employers that she would be going back to Russia. The employers sued on the basis that they had become attached to her daughter and sued for custody. They won.
