It would be nice if they were resolved to oppose him. They haven’t so far.
We’ll see if the Republicans grew a spine, or if this is just a dream sequence.
There’s probably not enough money for Boehners lobbyist inorder for hi to sign off.
Congress has already proved they can’t provide decent oversight for these ridiculous bailouts ——— no more stimulus fiascos.
If the GOP votes for a bill with ACORN money in it, they are finished as a party.
Because Bush was a Republican.
There is no principle involved in any of these guys votes, its just oppose the other guy.
Of course he should have been saying this to Paulson but its easier to keep the home team fans happy than lead on principle
I’ll believe this when the vote is recorded in the Congressional Record.

The GOP needs to just say, NO! Let the ‘RATS have full credit for the coming disaster (they created, IMHO). The ‘RATS wanted total control of the country. They’ve got it. Why be token GOPers just going along with this fiasco in a phony “spirit of bipartisanship.” STAND UP AND SAY NO!!!!! Remember what the ‘RATS and their media toadies always say, “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.” Let’s be patriotic and say, NO!
Sheesh! It’s about dang time the PUBS got the stick out of their rear end and really listened to the fraud and the RAT party throwing their weight around.
Republicans are only for big government when they’re the ones that run it.
HE WAS! Boehner called the original TARP deal a crap sandwich, a phrase Michelle Malkin has used incessently since then for the whole bailout extravanganza.
We need to cut our GOP leaders some slack. The media does the best job they can to make them look like fools and even mostly-smart folks can look bad when the press is after them.
So folks, please dont shoot first and ask questions later. If you arent sure, google and/or call them first to find out their real position.
We need the GOP Senators to put together a FILIBUSTER and shut down the stimulus bill down, so they go back and rewrite it. We can do that with 41 unified Senate Republicans, its a long shot, but doable if every GOP Senator gets on board.
Without a principled conservative opposition to the already excessive liberalism of Obama and the Democrats, the Republicans will have no credibility in 2010. Now is the time to take a stand and filibuster this bad bill.
There are specific demands that must be made:
#1 - filibuster against any spending that occurs after this fiscal year, and insist spending be done later in appropriations for next year; 100% of spending should be focussed SOLELY on this year and out-year spending should be in followup appropriations as conditions warrant. Why tie the USA to trillion dollar debt now for spending that will occur well after the recession is over?
#2 - no spending unless all tax laws are extended until 2013; in short, by raising taxes in 2010, the Democrats are cutting the economy off at the knees; they are killing, not stimulating, the economy; filibuster any bill that does not include delaying the increase in taxes.
#3 - No money for ACORN, for Planned Parenthood, for general pet projects that simply add to Government spending; filibuster any bill that has offensive, wasteful, non-stimulus spending; filibuster any bill that has pork and earmarks.
#4 - Filibuster any bill that is not at least 50% tax rate reductions, ie, real tax cuts; only tax rate reductions and/or direct tax cuts, such as allowing 100% expensing in 2009 of depreciable expenses, would incentivize the private sector.
THERE SHOULD BE 100% REPUBLICAN SUPPORT FOR THIS POSITION.
boehner looks like he fell asleep during sex.
At this point, I’ll take even this tiny victory....
I hear the pork in the bill is beyond belief.
Someone needs to publish it.
he was...I recall the press release whereby he even asked for a special prosecutor to be assigned to investigate matters around fannie mae/et al...the republicans are dealing with the same politics in the House right now they dealt with during the bailout 'hearings' - being shut out of all dealings/meetings and getting very very little press about it imo moo jmo
