The drum major violated protocol. Drum majors are to focus on their band and be an example for how other members are to comport themselves. A band member who turned, nodded, winked, and waved should be suspended also - and the drum major even more so because they are to be the example.

Sorry dude, for those of us that know something about marching bands, you are so out of gas.
