Former Vice President Al Gore urged Congress to back President Barack Obamas economic stimulus package, calling it an important step toward solving the climate crisis.
In his prepared testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Mr. Gore said that climate change, the economic crisis, and the threat of Islamic militancy are linked by a common thread our dangerous overreliance on carbon-based fuels.
Were borrowing money from China to buy oil from the Persian Gulf to burn it in ways that destroy the planet. Every bit of thats got to change, he said.
Gore dismissed concerns that efforts to limit greenhouse-gas emissions would hinder an economic recovery, calling these concerns emblematic of false choices.
In fact, the solutions to the climate crisis are the very same solutions that will address our economic and national security crises as well, he said.
He praised the White Houses economic stimulus plan, which calls for doubling the production of renewable energy over the next three years, improving the energy efficiency of 75 percent of federal buildings and 2 million homes, and putting 1 million plug-in hybrid cars on the road by 2015. These steps, Gore said, represent an important down payment and are long overdue.

Those idiots need to come shovel the 14 inches of global warming from my drive!
YEP! Dayum it sucked showeling that at 0630 in the morning.
This is an example of what I call the Total Moronic Convergence, where all Libby hobbyhorses eventually wind up tied together, so the Stimulus Package will eliminate Global Warming, guarantee gays the right to marry, promote racial harmony, house the homeless, bring World Peace, make the Muzzies love us, enhance our reputation in the world and eliminate litter along the roadside.
When these thing issues have been so prostituted so as to remove from them the slightest meaning, the only strategy left is to aggregate them.
By permanently destroying the economy and reducing us to a hunter-gatherer society. Well, except for those who starve or the chosen few flying their Gulfstreams to global warming conferences.
I’m just curious, does this mean that gas stations will be replaced with outlet stations to charge our batteries? And how many miles to the watt? How many dollars per watt? These things I must know.
By the way, how much CO2 is this going to create. Oh wait, a lot.
Hey, I like that. Perfectly describes the Dems and BO Rinos.
Algore, the master of the hoax!
If there are only one or two on each block it is no big deal. Multiply the number of households by 1.5 battery cars each (a conservative estimate) and there is no way the grid can possibly handle the load. Result: dead battery yard cars throughout the land. They might make a good places to sleep if you are homeless I guess.
