I think the thing the shocks me more than anything about the chutzpah of the Democrats is that the American people are so ignorant. Poll after poll has shown an utter contempt for the Pelosi/Reid-led Congress yet we as voters allowed this farce to play out. Those who have been paying attention are appalled that we are allowing the same leadership that got us into this mess to attempt to spend our way out of it and spend on ridiculous, non-stimulative things.

If conservatives instead of “republicans” had been elected over the last ten years none of this would be happening. Now I’m afraid it’s too late to do anything to save this republic.

I don’t know why but for some reason the liberals hate this country and want to see it destroyed. I understand Obama wanting it destroyed. He’s a muslim. But Pelosi? Reid? A Catholic and a Mormon?

A top House Republican is demanding an investigation into whether the more than $2 billion for national parks in the House stimulus package is proper in light of the fact that the chief lobbyist for the National Parks Conservation Association is the son of House Appropriations Committee Chairman David R. Obey.

NPCA is a major player in advocating for national parks funding, and its senior vice president for government affairs is Craig Obey, son of the Wisconsin Democrat who has long been his party's top Appropriations Committee member.

The money included in the stimulus bill that passed Mr. Obey's committee - $2.25 billion - was about equal to the National Park Service's total yearly budget, and would be a staggering increase and almost three times the $802 million that the Senate Appropriations Committee approved for park spending in its stimulus bill.

Keep after them, Republicans. Expose the lobbying perks for family members.

What makes you think that this is not the intended outcome. The only way to get the vast majority of mortgages right side up is to create inflation. Once inflation hits hard, the people already committed to mortgages will be head and shoulders ahead of the rest. After inflation induced wage increase kick in, your monthly mortgage payment will seem like a car loan, compared to the cost of living.

Wow, I can’t believe how shortsighted you guys are. Just 2 minutes of research and I find that the National Park Service is very underfunded and has a maintenance backlog of about $8 billion. If I do my math correctly, this isn’t enough to cover all the funds they need, especially considering George W. promised to cover the $3 billion backlog they had a few years back. I’m no economist or anything, but don’t maintenance projects contribute to the economy by creating jobs? And God forbid we do anything to help the environment in the meanwhile. So what if his son benefits off this; doesn’t it do good in the broader view?
