WASHINGTON President Barack Obama signed a series of executive orders Friday that he said should "level the playing field" for labor unions in their struggles with management.
Obama also used the occasion at the White House to announce formally a new White House task force on the problems of middle-class Americans. He named Vice President Joe Biden as its chairman.
Union officials say the new orders by Obama will undo Bush administration policies that favored employers over workers.

"With this task force, we have a single, highly visible group with one single goal: to raise the living standards of the people who are the backbone of this country," Biden said.
Sit down, Joe.
The only way these people know to ‘raise’ standards of some is by lowering the standards of the rest of us.
Yes, “spread the wealth”.
As if the living standard in this country was so bad?
This idiot is dangerous and the damage is already beyond repair. With much more to come.
Obama: “I’ve been President for barely more than a week... and I’ve seen Joe, um, like 4 times... so we decided to throw him a bone... get him out of my hair for a while.”
Great! A government “Task Force” is going to force unionization on America’s businesses.
Great .....the “Arbeit macht frei” task force is loose on an already fragile manufacturing base.....
LOL! That's how I see it, too. Biden is such a drastic fall-off in quality in the VP slot from Dick Cheney. Whereas VP Cheney had the cajones to order passenger planes to be shot down on 9/11/01 if necessary, Biden would pee his pants if he ever was in a similar situation.
Mr. Øbama now has Biden to blame when constituents asked “Why am I still in the Projects?”
Biden that idiot couldn’t find his ass with both hands, and a map. Not even google earth can help him.
This is only the beginning of O’s attempt to
“socialize” America. God help us.
ROFLMAO!
That level playing field used to be filled with manufacturing plants and small businesses. Good Job, Democrats. You are taking away reasons to do business here and employ citizens.
A few months ago I believed that more and more businesses would move to Mexico, because they have more thankful employees there. They will steal from you, but they don't have attorneys who wish to drive you to the poorhouse and swindle you out of your house and bank accounts.
Obama does not understand business ownership. As an attorney, he sees them as a host organism. In less than two weeks he has planted ticks on every business in the U.S..
.
Awww-- go ahead and say it -- Attorney = PARASITE
Obama never really practiced as an attorney. He only briefly worked for a law firm, where he did only the most junior-level paper-pushing types of legal work. In fact, he never really stuck with any job very long, flitting from law firm to university lecturer, to author, to "community organizer," to the state senate, to the U.S. senate where he stayed barely long enough to start his presidential campaign.
So now he has a job he must stick with for at least four years, even though he might very well get bored with it after about 18 months.
I understand the union label will now replace the presidential seal. /s
Cheney was a very capable fellow. He had more gravitas in his little finger than ten Obamas would.
I’m sure he’ll have his weekly meeting at angie’s resturant.
Sarcasm, maybe, D1, but not far from the facts on the ground. I took the following two photos in Inglewood, CA, just a couple of days ago.
The new American flag, seen in a black-owned barbeque fast food place. The O in 'hope' is, of course, the now famous Obama symbol from the campaign. This billboard is not far from a once large, shiny, thriving mall that was hit hard during the riots in the early 1990's. Through the years, it became a seriously dangerous place to go. It was closed about 10 years ago and now sits blighted and abandoned.
YES WE CAN put black people on TV, a huge billboard on Hawthorne Blvd., in Inglewood.
Inglewood, for folks who may not know, is a largely African-American city (although many Hispanics are moving in). Inglewood is an aging city whose main claim to fame is the Hollywood Park racetrack and the old forum where the Lakers used to play. Along with the Lakers, business has fled Inglewood in droves over the last 20 years, yet in the early 2000's the city council and voters rejected a WalMart. WalMart simply shrugged and built their store a few miles further south in Torrance. The place is always busy, and most of its shoppers are black and Hispanic who go there from other cities.
My Grandfather lived on Prairie not far from Hollywood park. I used to go down the often to see him. I know the area, although I haven’t spent much time down there in years.
Didn’t Terry Anderson live down there? He used to comment about what happened to his neighborhood when the Hispanics moved in.
I am not always a big supporter of WalMart. I will say that any large business moving into that area is probably a plus. And it was a misguided effort to block it’s entry into the community.
As you state, it simply moved outside the city limits and provided financial support to another city.
I’m sure the Union folks felt like they really accomplished something, at the expense of Hawthorne.
