Brought to you by the Obama Chicago machine. Are you ready for the House Bill titled 'HR 45, Blair Holt Licensing and Record Act of 2009'.
It will make it illegal to own a firearm unless it is registered with the database in Washington D.C. As a gun owner you will have to be finger printed, you will be required to provide your DL#, SS#, you must maintain a valid address at all times, submit to mental amd physical health records being put on file, you will also be required to file any address changes and you must report any ownership changes even if private sale.
Each update will cost $25 and if you fail to comply you will lose your right to own firearms and be subject to criminal penalties.
This bill and its language mirror almost completely one defeated last year in the House of Representatives by soon to be Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. Will we the citizenry be as lucky this time?
We cannot let them pass this bill!

As far as this bill not going anywhere. Quite sadly they have all their ducks lined up to pass garbage such as this.
I am still shocked Castro asked Obama today for Gitmo back saying Obama is breaking international law. No response from Obama.... but what IF..... Obama falls for this legal eagle international law shit and says ok? It is a nightmare.

This bill is stuck in committee.
H.R.45 Title: To provide for the implementation of a system of licensing for purchasers of certain firearms and for a record of sale system for those firearms, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Rep Rush, Bobby L. [IL-1] (introduced 1/6/2009) Cosponsors (None)
Latest Major Action: 1/6/2009 Referred to House committee.
Status: Referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.
The fact that it has no co-sponsors, even among those in the Democratic Party, indicate how far "off the reservation" it is.
Link for checking on status of H.R. 45:
Seriously, this bill is an example of how Democrats overreach and accidentally show their hand.
Chance of reaching the floor, IMHO: None and none.
Doesn't mean we shouldn't keep an eye on it, though.

When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.So what are they going to do put 20 million people in prison? Will ATF agents stake out gun ranges and sporting equipment stores to see who buys ammo, follow them home and confiscate their unregistered firearms?

on the afternoon of May 10, 2007, Blair Holt, a junior at Julian High School in Chicago, was killed on a public bus riding home from school when he used his body to shield a girl who was in the line of fire after a young man boarded the bus and started shooting.A better solution than shafting every gun owner in America would be to issue body armor to all students in cities like Chicago. Wouldn't cost that much and would protect them just the same. "If it's good enough for cops, it's good enough for our kids."

US Supreme Court strikes down Washington DC’s gun ban
June, 2008 - Justice Antonin Scalia, writing for the majority, said that the Constitution did not allow the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defence in the home. The court also ruled as unconstitutional DCs requirement that other firearms be equipped with trigger locks or kept disassembled.

I hope you are right, but I expect at least 8 out of 10 LEOs to fall into line with those who pay their retirement benefits.
A surprising number don't even know the laws they are supposed to be enforcing, so expecting them to support the constitution is perhaps a stretch.

Soon on the heels of this will be a denial of federal benefits to anyone who does not comply with the law. Then, there will be pressure on States, Counties, and Cities to enforce the law or else federal funds will be withheld. If they cannot impoverish you and your family, they can threaten to impoverish others to give them incentive to attack you.

Well not *all* firearms, just all handguns, and all semiautomatic firearms with removable magazines. You would have to go through a dealer to any firearm, and I suspect they would be keeping records of the instant background check, even if the law doesn't change the "destroy after approval" provision of the current Brady Act, although I don't recall if it does or not.
Other than my pump shotguns, I only have one gun that probably would not be covered by the licensing provisions, an SKS. Eric Holder might very well rule that since it's magazine *can* be removed by pushing out a pin, and there are magazines that purport to be "removable" available for it, that even the SKS is covered. All three handguns are doublely "qualified", that is fitting both criteria. All three rifles do as well. (Even though one of each is a .22 rimfire, there are no exceptions for those). Unfortunately I only have two completely off the books firearms, from private party sales, both of which would be "qualified" under this bill.

I’m not so worried about Obama “falling for” ANYTHING. I’m more concerned about him giving it to Castro WILLINGLY. After all, we already know that some of Obama’s best friends have very strong ties to Cuba (Craig, Ayers)!
Again, Obama won’t be “falling for” anything. If there is one thing he’s not it’s stupid... He is a dyed-in-the-wool Marxist/Socialist/Communist. EVERYTHING he is doing is a result of THAT philosophy. He is a stereotypical “Red-Diaper Baby”...
Obama’s the ONE alright — the one McCarthy tried to warn us would appear 50 years ago...
(NOTE: Whether one agrees with McCarthy’s methods or not, he was right about the threat...)

Let the Left try to come out against Kevlar for Kids. They can't do it. Their hypocrisy would be on parade. Tommy Hilfiger could sow one into a hooded sweatshirt for pennies. You could even get one for low-pants wearers to prevent getting your butt shot-off.

I did not mean it literally about Obama falling for anything. Where I was trying to go is his liberal ideals the way he wants to protect terrorists and shut down Gitmo. What I meant was he has the mindset to tell Castro yes take Gitmo.
No other President (not even Clinton) has done foreign policy like such a blatent marxist. Not even Clinton or Jimmay Carter negotiated with terrorists and spoke in perfect tongue with Iran's arachmadinajad abdul P. terrorist that is in bed with commie russia and china.

Democrat voters in rough, inner-city neighborhoods are very much against firearms control laws. Democrats in favor of such laws are much more often than not, white, wealthy suburbanites.
