I’m trying not to be a downer anymore but what is to keep Lynch from nominating Dem once Gregg hypothetically steps down? Gregg can’t just go back and say “Hey you nominated the wrong guy” and take his seat back. So all of this depends on if Lynch is a man of his word.

Smart move by the Dims. They really know how to do politics — especially when they are up against the hapless Republicans. This is like watching Jason Borne beating up Pee wee Herman.

Good points, LS.

Here’s to reliable v. squishy, we got plenty of the latter, it seems, and what is this rumbling of the Gang of 14 riding again? Oh please, just what we need... like another kick in the head.

I don’t think most in the Senate could spell loyalty much less practices it these days. They don’t just lose their way, they lose their mind. Agendas and FBI files get in the way somehow, or maybe it’s just global varming.

Party on.

Ten percent reduction in one year!

And he'll probably effectively cut the budget this year, by not asking for any, or for a greatly reduced, war supplemental. That would mean that ongoing operations would have to be funded out of the regular budget. He can get Congress to move and "recolor" money in this years budget in order to do that. For example, he promised to cut the Future Combat Systems. He could cancel that and have the R&D money reprogrammed into the operations and maintenance budget.

Can anyone say ‘Jumpin Jim Jeffords’?
Looks like OB picked the ‘most conservative’ of our New England Liberal Republicans...
Surprised McCain didn’t do the ‘switch’ and take a cabinet position

ay HELLLOOOO to the new assault weapon ban. Hell maybe licensing and registration

The licensing and registration bill has already been introduced. It's HR 45 filed by Congressman Bobby Rush, who represents the district where Obama, Ayers, Farrakhan and others of that ilk live, Hyde Park, and the surrounding pestilent Ghettos. He is also a co founder of the Illinois branch of the Black Panthers.

As far as I can tell the New and Improved AW ban bill has not yet been filed. Probably waiting for that filibuster proof super majority.

If he goes there will be trouble, if he stays it will be double. We need to prevent these ratlickens from ever winning a Republican primary in the first place. I suspect we'll see even more of them with Steele's RNC.

It would seem to be a good time to begin some recall campaigns against rat senators like Reid and others. Our backs are against the wall now and numbers mean everything.

The standard procedure for a Cabinet member is to hand the President his signed, but not dated letter of resignation. There's no discussion. When the President wants a Cabinet member out, he dates the letter and calls a press conference to make the announcement.

First, only 18 States have provisions that allow for the recall of a person serving in federal office. Second, Article 1, Sec. 5 (2) of the Constitution would most likely render any successful recall unconstitutional.

Obama may well value the Republican resistance. There is such a thing as getting just enough rope to hang yourself.

Um, you can’t fire a cabinet member.

The President says, "I accept your resignation, effective immediately." That's about how hard it is. They serve at the pleasure of the President.

I don’t know if it makes the least bit of difference. They always had a few RINO’s they could depend on anyway.
