Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., says the nearly trillion-dollar stimulus package the House of Representatives is heaping on Americans is nothing more than a huge spending bill with projects in it for people the Democratic-led Congress wants to buy off.
Inhofe, who says the bill will do nothing to stimulate the economy.....that the superfluous bill will provide tax refunds to people who don't pay any taxes, and would even give government checks of up to $1,000 to illegal aliens.
"You have a stimulus bill that's supposed to stimulate the economy," Inhofe explains. "We know how to do that. We did it under John Kennedy; we did it under Ronald Reagan. We know what it does and what you have to do for capital gains and for all these things to open up the economy. But this doesn't do any of that."
Inhofe notes ...projects that have nothing to do with stimulating the U.S. economy, including:
# $30 billion on federal government building improvements
# $1.5 billion for homelessness prevention
# $650 million for digital TV coupons
# $650 million for wildlife management
# $600 million for the federal government to buy new green cars
# $570 million for climate change
# $75 million for smoking cessation activities
"The only tax decreases they have here are refundable tax credits," Inhofe explains.
Inhofe says he met with President Obama Monday to point out that the $30 billion earmarked for infrastructure represents only 3 percent of the total amount of the spending bill.
"When I told him that, he didn't believe it was that small a percentage," Inhofe says.I said, "If we find that I'm right and you're wrong, would you go up to 10 percent?" And he said, "I'd certainly look at that." Since then, he realizes that I am right.

Most taxpayers already knew that, but at least someone said it out loud. The sell off of America begins.
Pork pie. Obama promised everybody a piece of the pie. It’s a big old fat pork pie. Porky the Pig would be proud. Buyoff is way too soft a term Jim. Bribes. Payola. Scam. Several terms fit quite nicely.
Kill it!!
That’s my Senator.
Mine too!
Thats my (adopted) Senator.
Although I may actually bother to write Gillibrand now that Hillary is gone.
All this is being done on borrowed money.
If the government didn’t borrow the money, the money would have to find a productive profitable investment in the private sector.
If the government buys/borrows the money, then that money will not have to work, the government will do the work of paying them interest on the money. From us.
Supposedly these idiots in Washington that are stupid, ignorant, lazy, greedy and cowardly can make investment choices better than individuals under pressure to find investments.
Yeah, right.
This whole thing has been a immense failure of big government, big banks and big investors. Yet, these are the very people that are getting the first and the most the help from Fedgov.
We get butkus, and our children will get chains of debts to the largest corporations, banks, wealthy individuals and the government.
Pay to Play is the current term.
WASHINGTON President Barack Obama said Monday that “very modest differences” over a massive package to revive the economy should not delay its swift passage, a fresh appeal to Congress as the nation dealt with another dose of dire financial news.

If Obama doesn't even know the rough percentage of the infrastructure portion of the bill he is either blinded by his arrogance or outright lieing. He is also trying to have it both ways - the Dem Congress wrote the bill (they get the blame) but he can refute with authority the infrastructure provisions. What a maroon.
“Thats my Senator.”
I’ll trade ya my two liberal ol’ hags for him anyday!
I’ve followed him for 20 years. Excellent legislator. Good man.
American’s are waking up to the fact that the differences are NOT modest.
An issue still not being mentioned, however, is money going to foreclosures....money going to help refinance the mortgages of people who NEVER should have been given mortgages in the first place. To date, I’ve heard nothing about preventing illegals and/or Bush’s section 8 voucher holders (”ownership society”) from getting assistance...again. Apparently we have learned from the FIRST mistake. Must be politically INcorrect to mention.
