New Delhi has warned Barack Obama that he is "barking up the wrong tree" if he tries to broker a deal between Pakistan and India over the disputed territory of Kashmir.
MK Narayanan, India's national security adviser, said the new US president was in danger of dredging up outdated Clinton-era strategies in an effort to improve ties between the nuclear armed neighbours.
"I do think that we could make President Obama understand, if he does nurse any such view, that he is barking up the wrong tree. I think Kashmir today has become one of the quieter and safer places in this part of the world," Mr Narayanan said in an interview with CNBC TV18.
"It's possible that at this time there are elements, -perhaps in the administration who are harking back to the pre-2000 era."

AppealThe armed subversion by Muslim fundamentalist/terrorist youth to destroy the pluralistic, secular socio-political character of Kashmir valley and reduce it to a reactionary, monolithic, theocratic one, has entered its seventh year of operation. The grand design of this separatist insurgency is aimed at snapping all historical, economic, cultural, and political links of Kashmir valley with India and annexing it with Pakistan which is encouraging it overtly and covertly and lending moral, financial, political, diplomatic and military support. The first objective of this diabolical plan i.e. hounding out the Kashmiri Pandit (Hindu) ethnic minority from the Kashmir valley is being pursued with fanatic zeal.
ping.
"Say what?" said one Obama supporter. Said the other Obama suporter, "He said you have to choke your chicken and spank your monkey."
Isn’t it clear? bo wants to destabalize Pakistan so his Terrorist Pals can get their hands on the Nuclear Weapons.
When is the last time the Indian government spoke to an American president like that? He needs to step back and evaluate why.
He’s pushy, and trying to push HIS agenda on other world governments. He’s overstepping his boundries, badly.
And it seems like he’s rushing and in a hurry. Don’t you think?
Lol, that’s pretty funny. But, I am still scratching my head on that chicken/monkey statement.
The Indian diplomat who made the comment is already facing flak for it, in India.
Yes. It seems he cannot deal with the pressure from his commie friends demanding payback.
How is he going to deal with a real problem?
So the Indian diplomat is getting flak, I don’t know why, it seemed like a natural thing to do when there is a new president pushing their ridiculous agenda on his country within 2 weeks.
By the way, I was referring to Obama when I said ‘He needs to step back and evaluate why’.
I can only guess that chickens and monkeys are more of a cultural presence in some parts of the world than ours. Perhaps over there a monkey gets a bit too rambunctious and misbehaves and exasperates the people. You can’t exactly yell at a monkey and tell it to stop and calm down. But if you kill a chicken that MIGHT get the stupid monkey’s attention where words fail.
HE’S AN IDIOT, PLAIN AND SIMPLE
It is believed that Milliband's views are shared by his left-wing brothers in the U.S. So India's reaction to Milliband was supposed to send a message to the Obama admin.
Exactly. A better explanation couldn’t have been worded.
You know, what with all the emphasis on the Muslim and Arab worlds, the US policy of the importance of elections, apart from some reports on the BBC, there was virtually no coverage in the US TV media althought some in print.
Three major regions, all mountainous, a complex ballot, helicopters and security forces used to transport ballots and guard against jihadis, a substantial portion of the population voting - all ignored. The BBC managed to find some stubborn jihadis, anti India, railing against the polls. How many elections has Pukeistan run in “Azad” Kashmir? Zip, Zero.
Apart from the sheer accomplishment of pulling off an election in the most trying circumstances, the US media ignored the significance of elections in such a volatile region of the world. Muslims, voting mainly peacably, as part of a multiparty slate, in the largest democracy.
But, fret not, Holbrooke will not have Kashmir as an official part of his portfolio, but judging from the advisers(Ahmad Rashid, Barnett Rubin), Pakistan will have an substantial voice in lassoing Kashmir into the discussions.
I doubt it succeeds too much since Pakistan’s credibility is completely shredded and even their most staunch allies in the West offer tepid support, at best.
For a diplomat, Milli sure put both feet in his mouth.
What a Putz.
Additionally, the significance of his remarks is that it gave sustenance to the IslamabadPakistani Military and State in their desire to keep Kashmir inflamed, and also their jihadi buddies in Kashmir, directly encouraging jihadis in Kashmir to keep killing Indians.
He gave tremendous encouragement to those who advocate jihad, as it validated their entire philosophy.
Perversely enough, he has also encouraged more murderous attacks in the UK by the jihadis his country seems infested with.
Google Indian Monkey Attacks or something similar, and you see the efficacy of the man’s statement.
Monkeys can get nasty. And, not that I’ve seen it, but a dead chicken bleeding onto the bushes would intimidate the monkeys into silence or dispersal. Just the act may be enough.
Prolly more of a rural solution than an urban one, lol.
Thanks to both of you for your replies. Well said.
