For decades, the face of the criminal justice system in this country has been black and male: hundreds of thousands locked behind bars, arrested in disproportionate numbers and facing execution at rates far greater than those for the general population.
This week, Eric H. Holder Jr.'s swearing-in as the nation's first black attorney general and its top law enforcement official came weighted with heavy expectation that the system could change.

U.S. Department of Justice: Racial differences exist, with blacks disproportionately represented among homicide victims and offenders.
So, we’re going to see Affirmative Action in sentencing, too? If they’re committing the crime, they have to do the time.
“Official Department of Justice statistics show that black people committed 52.2% of murders for the year 2005 despite being only 12.1% of the population. “
Yeah, but that was whitey’s fault. /s off
Blacks have a huge problem with fatherless homes.
A strong male role model in black families would stop an awful lot of young male violence.
Course you’d have to change the whole black culture for that to happen.
Does anyone over there ever stop to think that, maybe, if more blacks are committing crimes, then more blacks are gonna be put in jail?
The “black culture” would change quickly for the better if the government(democrat party) wasn’t intentionally keeping it where it is.
Fatherless homes is a result, a rational result, of government welfare policy.
You don’t get a free check if you are married to the father of your children... what did they expect?
” (Blacks disproportionately imprisoned/executed) “
I’m willing to bet that Carrie and Krissah are afraid to go into some neighborhoods in DC...
Double-or-nothing that those are not predominantly ‘white’ neighborhoods.....
Liberal Guilt, thy name is hypocracy....
The most likely victim of black criminals are also black. By underprosecuting black criminals to get their conviction and imprisonment numbers down to their population percentage, we would condemn many more innocent blacks to be robbed, raped and murdered.
It made my heart ache, you know, to see all these beautiful black men in the joint...the warriors should be out there helping the masses. I felt that way, I was real naïve. Six weeks I was up there and I talked to the brothers. I talked to em, and
Thank God we got penitentiaries!
“Official Department of Justice statistics show that black people committed 52.2% of murders for the year 2005 despite being only 12.1% of the population.”
Two ways to look at this ...
First, the black community needs to get its act together.
Second, the black community is somehow being framed.
Naturally, liberals pick number two.
I expect a major spike in crime under Obama - even after just 12 months in office.
The disproportionate amount of crime committed by blacks should be considered a violation of white civil rights. No?
It wasn’t always that way. The fatherless home is the lingering gift from LBJ and his buddies.
I can hear the shouts of “blaming the victim” now!
Yes, the “black community” IS a victim. A victim of the liberal policies that have caused and perpetuated poverty and fatherlessness.
Ah yes,
L.B.J.
Just one of a long line of socialist democrat presidents.
Does anyone stop to think that if black murderers are NOT put in jail, that more black VICTIMS will not receive justice?
Eric Holder showed the quality of his “mercy” when he pardoned Marc Rich and the Puerto Rican terrorists.
BOHICA.
So does this mean we get to lock up whitey to even the score?
Well Blacks don’t committ crimes GUNS DO!
Uh... if they’re arrested in disproportionate numbers, it’s because they’re committing crimes in disproportionate mumbers. It’s not rocket science and it’s not racism. It’s simple law enforcement.
Life in America.........it’s all about “them”.
