Exactly. This is nuts.
The whole problem with the thinking is that the Keynesian approach is to ‘boost economic activity’. Okay, but what is the purpose of economic activity? To add to our wealth.
If the boosted economic activity is a HUGE WASTE OF MONEY ON SOMETHING THAT WE WOULD NOT SPEND EVEN IN NORMAL TIMES, then why do it when times are tight? It makes not a lick of sense.
$600 million for this, billions for energy boondoggles, billions for HHS over-spending.... all it does is waste money and make us poorer longterm.
The only ‘stimulus’ spending that makes sense is those things that we know up front are more than worthwhile and would be funded in normal times and are affordable.
But most of the ‘stimulus’ has to be about stimulating the private sector, not the govt sector. And that means tax and regulatory relief.
I missed that part. 8?

Anything that will actually help the economy is being rejected. Do you think people have just given up and want to drive this country into the ground? Atlas shrugged style?
