UPDATE: We have been reminded that Senator Stabenow's husband, Thomas Athans, is the co-founder of the liberal TalkUSA Radio network and is now the Executive Vice-President of liberal Air America. Liberal talk radio has of course failed miserably every time it has been tried, all the while watching it's conservative counterpart's success soar.
Which might lead one to believe that Senator Stabenow, in addition to her zealous will to slam the fist of government down upon her opponents, has some business skin in the game as well. If you can't beat 'em, censor 'em.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Calderone in today's Politico reports on the latest liberal politician -- Michigan Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow -- openly touting their intent to silence their talk radio opposition with a reinstitution of the Fairness Doctrine.
"Whether its called the Fairness Standard (sic), whether its called something else I absolutely think its time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves."
Senator Stabenow was speaking on the air with liberal talk radio host Bill Press and to his eleven listeners nationwide. She insisted that she "think(s) its absolutely time to pass a standard" and indicated she had "already had some discussions with colleagues" about Fairness "Standard" hearings and that she "feel(s) like thats gonna happen. Yep."

These are liberals trying to silence the remaining conservative holdout..
Wow so Stabenow’s family directly profits from any censuring of conservative talk radio and/or giving handouts to lib talk.
I am so relived to hear there is no conflict of interest there (sarcasm fully intended).
Take good care!
In light of this information, the Senator can fix the problem of imbalance by encouraging her husband to produce radio programs that don’t suck. “If you build it, people will come.”
Oh yes....she’s doing it for the “little guy.”
Strange when she was on Press’s show she yakked and yakked about the LIES conservative radio tells. Ahem...did she give any examples by chance? Of course not.
Democrats would look VERY VERY bad if they try to silence conservative talk radio, especially in light of the fact that Republicans didn’t utter a word when Air America was launched with all that fanfare, and when MSNBC holds literal Democratic telethons. Sorry no one likes your husband’s product, tootsie, but that’s not Limbaugh or Levin’s fault. If there really was a market for liberal talk radio, which even fails in the San Francisco Bay Area, Clear Channel would be falling over itself to find an outlet for it.
Come to think of it - is “Pacifica Radio” still in business? How about NPR?
Somebody poked a mop handle in the one’s front trike wheel.
The Senator’s voicemail box is full.
Here we go — right on schedule. Can’t have Rush Limbaugh and company doing to future debates what they did to the debate over the dumb Dem “stimulus” plan.
Silly rabbit. Laws, like taxes,
are ONLY for non-Congresspeople and Republicans.
Dont sweat it ... after all I think it is funny every time it gets a mention.
"Accountability"
It's the new liberal buzzword to usher in one-party rule.
Can this be far away?
Stabenow can shut her yap until we audit her and her husband for the usual Democrat Tax Cheatery...
I keep boxes and boxes of “accountability” in a small room at my house.
I live in Michigan....I have just emailed her office....tried to telephone....you can’t get through, her lines are all tied up.
Please folks...keep emailing and calling. This moron wants to suspend the First Amendment....nothing like this has been tried since the Alien and Sedition Act of 1798.
