Partially correct. Republicans also have to reconcile themselves to how they screwed up with regards to the Iraq war. Let’s face it: Spending is a small part of the story as to why Republicans lost. Iraq is a big part of the story. Long-term, immigration is a very important part as well - the Republicans have allowed the Democrats to import millions and millions of loyal voters. That is hardly the way a successful party operates.

The Republican leadership remained deaf after the 2006 slaughter. For 2008 the Republican Party hoisted John McCain on us as the nominee.

I really hope this guy runs for the nomination in 2012. I like Sarah P. and would proudly vote for her if she were the nominee, but based upon what I’ve seen of Jindal I would prefer him to be the nominee.
