Kadima wins elections, but will it form the next government? Kadima and its Chairwoman, Tzipi Livni, are the big winners of the 2009 general elections, according to a Rafi Smith exit poll commissioned by Ynet, with Likud finishing a disappointing 2nd.

Avigdor Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu delivered at crunch time to become Israel's third-largest party, while Ehud Barak's Labor party sustained a harsh blow. Exit polls by Israel's major television channels showed similar results

Before citing Scripture out of context, you should remember that Golda Meir was a great leader for the State of Israel. Margaret Thatcher was a great Conservative Leader in the UK.

Livni is no Golda Meir, nor Margaret Thatcher. She is a leftist feminist, a lesbian, in fact.

Hoping that exit polls are wrong, but if true, this will another victory for Obama and Clinton, and a catastrphe for Israel and the Jewish people.

Maybe the souls of all of the murdered unborn have raised such noise in Heaven that G-d can no longer wait. In Revelations, these spirits ask “how much longer before we are given revenge for our murder.” (Not an exact quote, but you get the point).

The so called “third way” has failed everywhere, with Clinton and Blair as prime example. You must be patient, it will fail for Obama as well. It will be a catastrphe for Israel if the Center gets to form the government.

I don’t see the Rightist parties, especially the Religious parties, coalescing around a lesbian as Prime Minister to form a government. Livni, too, will fail.

Just Socialism under a different name.

“Third way is sometimes described as an idea of former social-democrats which replaces socialism with capitalism and a minimum of socialism, and a strategy to bring the social-democratic parties back to power where they have lost elections. For example, Slavoj Zizek argues that the notion of the Third Way emerged as the only alternative to the victorious global capitalism and its notion of liberal democracy when the Second Way crumbled.[39] Critics argue that third way politicians are in favour of ideas and policies that ultimately serve the interests of corporate power and the wealthy at the expense of the working class and the poor. Some also classify the Third Way as neosocialism or “neoliberalism with a social touch”.[40][41] In many western nations where social democratic or “socialist” parties have adopted centrist or third way policies or have been seen by some as doing so, many new leftwing parties have been able to attract voters disillusioned with the traditional left. These include The Left Party of Germany (formerly the Party of Democratic Socialism), the Left Party of Sweden, the Socialist Party of Ireland and Sinn Fein, The Respect Party of the United Kingdom, the Scottish Socialist Party, the Citizen and Republican Movement and the Communist Party of France, the Green Party in the United States and the United Left of Spain to name a few.”

Actually, I thought of her before posting. Golda Meir probably was an exception to the rule.

America was and would be better off without Amendment XIX.

I wouldn’t assume Israel went with Livni, she couldn’t put a coalition together or there wouldn’t have been elections, and the right win parties picked up seats, so she’s in a weaker position today.

And what about Maggie Thatcher? She, Ronald Reagan, and Pope John Paul II ended the scourge the human race, Communism.

And what abpout Sarah Palin? She shouldn’t participate in the Electoral process either?

re : XIX Amendment.. how dare you even suggest that the right to vote be taken away from half of the US population who happen to be women. Maybe we shouldn’t have to pay our taxes either, or be allowed to go to school, or , even work.

The logical extention of your foolish misogynist thinking is a Taliban-like state.

Sounds like you would be fine with the Taliban in charge.

Religious parties in Israel have been compromising with the Left in Israel since the state was founded.

Why on earth would folks as generally savvy as FReepers decide they would do otherwise now? If anything, they’re even more trapped and addicted to whoever hands out more money, which the left is always willing to do.

You beat me to it. Ezekiel 38-39 suggest as much. It also describes a time when Israel believes that is safe when, in reality, it isn't.

As a partial preterist, I believe that the Ezekiel war is the same as Armageddon. Observant Jews also believe that the Messiah will come and save them during the Ezekiel war.

I just read that in the end, Olmert threw his support behind Livni.

Both BHO and Hillary are rejoicing at the possibility of a Likud defeat.

Hillary and Slick have a long history of mutual hatred and distrust with Bibi.

As we say in NY, OY VAY!

Are you telling us she won’t be able to form a government, and that Bibi will?....That would be good news.

That's a distinct possibility. She wasn't able to put together a coalition last year when Shas left her, which is what triggered the election. The question will be who gets the first shot at forming a coalition. Normally the first shot goes to whoever wins the most seats, Kadima/Livni. If she fails, then Likud/Bibi get a chance. Also, it's possible President Peres would give Bibi the first shot, since his decision is based on which party has the best chance of forming a coalition, and that's clearly Likud, the right wing parties having a majority, 63 to 65 seats, on their own. And these are exit polls, which aren't always accurate.
