JERUSALEM – Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu has declared victory in Tuesday's parliamentary election. Netanyahu told his supporters in a speech early Wednesday that he was proud of the gains by his hardline party. Exit polls show Likud coming in second, but in a better position to lead a coalition government because of a strong showing by other nationalist parties.

Kadima won the most seats, but they do not have a majority.

Netanyahu will be able to acquire the most votes from his party and the 3rd place party.

This is a good thing. The left in Israel is in shambles.

IIUC, I read on the Jerusalem Post that the parties from the Right will have the majority together, therefore Netanyahu will most likely form the government.

Another man with a healthy skepticism of exit polls! Gotta love him!

Yay, Bibi!!
And for purely female superficial reasons, he’s a good looking guy, too! (The Kool-Aid drinkers can have their B. Hussein dreams, so it’s fair.)

That is what the exit polls were saying and I was really disappointed thinking it was accurate. This is good news.

Kadima won the most seats in the election, however, 64 of the 120 parliament seats were won by right-wing parties, so it’s very possible that Netanyahu may become Prime Minister even though he came in second because Livni, who leads Kadima, may not be able to form a coalition government.

probably not. at least the Israelis KNOW their
candidates are Israelis. Because of ex parte corruption
in SCOTUS, the litigant was entertained and the cases
sent back (wink wink wink wink, payoff).

The exit polls had Bibi losing the last time he won as well. Part of it is because they count the military votes last. Another part has to do with who is able to stuff more ballots. Bibi just has to stuff more to keep it fair.

By the way, the chick from the BBC was CRYING on the radio when they found out the next morning that Bibi had actually won.

As the returns come in, the difference between Kadima and the Likud is just under 1%.
