CHICAGO (CBS) ― Citing harsh weather, high sales taxes, and public corruption, Forbes Magazine named Chicago the third most miserable city in the country in its 2009 survey.

Forbes list ranked Chicago more miserable than Buffalo, Detroit, and even Flint, Mich., the former auto manufacturing town whose gloom was immortalized in Michael Moore's "Roger and Me."

The city boasts being the hometown of President Barack Obama, a leading contender for the 2016 Summer Olympics and an impressive record for the Cubs last year, Forbes points out.

My condolences, A.S.O.B.
Detroit in the 60’s and 70’s, was a fantastic place to grow up.The people were hard working, and down to Earth. My parents immigrated there in the mid-40’s,and it was as good a city as any in the world.
It’s a sad commentary that the Leftist-Liberalism,etc. that has infested our country has destroyed once great cities.
Where do we go from here?

The sound of paper shredders.......................

Obama's COS Rahm Emanuel apparently lives tax-free in a magnificent Chicago mansion that is owned by "The Rahm Emanuel and Amy Rule Charitable Foundation."

According to the Cook County Assessor’s website, the Chicago home of four-term Democrat Congressman and new White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, doesn’t exist........there seems to be no public record of Emanuel ever paying property taxes on this home.

Here's the Chicago tax assessor on the topic: "Rahm Emanuel’s house being tax exempt is wholly inaccurate. Rep. Emanuel’s house in on the tax rolls, and he and Ms. Rule have paid the taxes on it. The Emanuel house sits on two lots. For tax purposes, the property is listed as 4232 N. Hermitage Ave. The PIN is 14-18-408-035-0000. As you can see, 4232 N. Hermitage came up as one of the addresses when you searched Emanuel’s block on our web site. 4228 N. Hermitage is listed as the mailing address on the tax records-----it is not at all uncommon for addresses to be merged for properties on two lots. According to the Cook County Treasurer’s web site, Emanuel and his wife paid $13,022.60 in property taxes this year." Sincerely, Eric W. Herman Director of Communications Cook County Assessor's Office

=================================

KEEP IN MIND The Chicago county assessor is a high- ranking Democrat Party operative, and is surely biased.

This same assessor once carried the palatial home of Democrat Cong Luis Guiterrez on the tax rolls as a vacant lot and argued once the story was publicized that Guiterrez should not be penalized for a "clerical error" ....this was after Guiterrez paid minimal taxes for years and years, b/c Guiterrez' palatial home was listed as a vacant lot.

Rahm has two lots and pays the freight on a single bill and gets a tax break loophole that most of us would never be allowed and now the assessor tells us to be happy that multi-millionaire and Freddie Mac swiller Rahm Emanuel pays anything.

City and county Chicago governments are run by corrupt Dem machines for years, it's hardly surprising that Emmanuel managed to pulled off his "charitable organization" stunt successfully....then got a "clarification"

BTW, was Rahm's tax check backdated?

The "Rahm Emanuel and Amy Rule Charitable Trust" was formed in 2002, when Rahm was first elected to Congress.

What illegalities would be unearthed if Foundation principles had their past tax filings audited?

REFERENCE The IRS has reported that tax-exempt “foundations and charities” are the locus classicus for tax evasion and money laundering. The "Rahm Emanuel and Amy Rule Charitable Trust" was formed in 2002, when Rahm was first elected to Congress.

Here's Rahm pledging allegiance to the flag on inauguration day.

The article mentions Rahm Emanuel. The special election, to replace Emanuel, has one conservative, Rosanna Pulido, the founder and director of the Illinois Minuteman Project, and I’m her volunteer coordinator. She’s pro-life and pro-gun rights. Please read her site, www.rosannapulido2009.com. If you know anyone who wants to volunteer, for her, please ask them to email me at philacollins@yahoo.com. If you know anyone who wants to donate, to her, please ask them to do so, through her site.

My first year there as a Fellow at Wayne St. I lived in Hamtramack and that was quite pleasant.

We have no real perspective on the past of our cities being under a common view of “the Good Old Days” when life was nothing like “Good” for most people. See the movie “Gangs of New York” for a very dramatic and accurate view of real life without the nostalgia.

Chicago has been a corrupt polis since its very beginning and its history shows that it has been TOTALLY under the OPEN control of criminal agents for long period of time. Saloonkeepers, Brothel owners, Gang leaders controlled the elections, police, state legislators and Congressmen typically through the Democrat Party. It is amazing to me that this city is as beautiful, productive and significant as it is given the chaotic underpinning of the political structure.

It had periods when that chaos made it as bad as Detroit is today yet it survived and came back. Hopefully Detroit will as well but it cannot until the domination by the Black Welfare Machine and Unions is crushed.

Where do we go from here? Until the GOP and conservatives realize that taking the cities is critical to political success in the future we will go nowhere. That awareness seems to be very limited and generally ridiculed on the Right which seems to what to flee to the country.

However, when one considers the history of Rome it does not lead to excessive optimism. Once the means of controlling the masses was developed the elites used them and politics to pursue self-aggrandizement rather than public concerns. Like Rome this nation is powerful enough to buy off a huge percent of the people for a long time. In Rome’s case it obtained riches through the rapacious use of its military in looting other regions. In our case the dominate party has adopted policies which will REDUCE our wealth making it very difficult to pay off the parasites.

I don’t see any significant advantage that this alleged foundation has given on the tax bill. Given the area and general housing stock the bill paid appears to reflect a value of about 1.2 million for the two lots.

Apparently the house is worth about 900,000.

BTW the other crook you reference was not evading taxes on a palatial home only a modest one.
