Have the GOP leaders begun grooming Bobby Jindal as their main counterweight to Barack Obama? John Boehner and Mitch McConnell have selected the young governor of Louisiana to deliver the Republican response to the quasi-State of the Union address at the end of the month. From the press release:

House Republican Leader John Boehner (OH) and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (KY) announced today that Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal will give the Republican address following the President’s first address to Congress on February 24, 2009. The Governor will speak to the nation from Baton Rouge, LA.

In making the announcement, Leader Boehner noted the Governor’s leadership and innovation in public service:

“Gov. Jindal embodies what I have long said: the Republican Party must not be simply the party of ‘opposition,’ but the party of better solutions. His stewardship of the state of Louisiana, dedication to reforming government, and commitment to bringing forth new and innovative ideas make him a leader not just within the Republican Party, but in our nation as a whole.”

Wouldn’t you love to hear Jindal start his response stating “That man is such a lying piece of... well, you know.”

Bobby should deliver the response while wearing hip boots.

I like it. Steele will get enough exposure all over the TV shows. Better to introduce Jindal to a national audience. Even if he isn’t running in 2012....no one else is either...technically. You don’t need to waste it on Romney, as he will and has gotten plenty of face time. Palin really needs to be OUT of the limelight for awhile IMO..just to let things chill out for a bit.

In addition, Jindal is actually THE BEST I’ve heard at actually explaining the Reagan ideal and putting it in a good, easy to follow format. It isn’t just to push HIM, he actually can present an agenda.

Why aren't there Republican responses all all principle speeches and press conferences of Obama’s?? I seem to recall, every time President Bush opened his mouth the media provided a Democrat response.

Thanks. Us South Carolinians are sure proud of Jim.

But I would rather have Palin.

Happy birthday, Sarah!

Jindal was born in Baton Rouge.

Of foreign-born parents. Hey, it's not my theory. But the birthers are going on and on about Obama not being a natural born citizen because his father was Kenyan.

No, the allegation is also that That One was born abroad.

Jindal was definitely born within US territory.

What networks are going to keep away from regularly scheduled programing long enough to allow a Republican to speak to the Nation?

No, the allegation is also that That One was born abroad.

There are a lot of variants of the birther conspiracy theory. One of them, based on some 18th Century legal text, is that a natural-born citizen can only be the child of two citizens.

Having Jindal respond is a great idea.

The more we get get out front Govs. Jindal, Palin, Rep. Cantor and others in this league of articulate, conservatives who are in the 30s to 50s year old range
we connect more with the population.

There are others who may vote correctly but turn off the
average person especially now being they come across as the typical 58-75 year old country club type and not suited as getting out our message again especially now.

There is proof of his birth and residency here. All that was hashed out when he first ran for governor in 2003. Then again in 2007. The Louisiana Democratic Party is real nasty.

The problem with zer0 is that he will not provide the real proof and that alone was what keeps the issue alive.

I refer you to this thread:The TRUE definition of a "Natural Born Citizen."
No documentation is required. Everyone should understand and KNOW the answer to the question of what country is the country of which Obama was a natural born citizen. It is IMPOSSIBLE for Barry Obama, Barry Soetoro, or Barack Hussein Obama Junior, to be a natural born United States citizen. He can NOT POSSIBLY be a "natural born citizen" of the US because his father, Barack Hussein Obama Senior, was a Citizen of UK and/or Kenya. Barcak Hussein Obama Junior could be a natural born British Citizen or a natural born Kenyan Citizen. There is NO possible way Barack Hussein Obama Junior could be a natural born US Citizen; because, at the time of Barack Hussein Obama Junior was born, his father, Barack Hussein Obama Senior was a British and/or Kenyan Citizen. Whether Barack Hussein Obama Junior was born in Hawaii, Kenya, or the moon, is irrelevant. Birth documents, real or forged, are irrelevant.
