I’ve never been to Iowa, but this sure doesn’t sound like my image of it.

Iowa is a “may issue” gun permit state.
To: suzy02
They’re serious this time — a person could get a fine of up to $50 (from the article).
To: suzy02
There is very little information here. As a hunter I was taught that all guns should be cased and unloaded. Doesn’t say so but would appear that this is targeted at concealed carry permits.

It’s amazing what lawmakers invent out of sheer ignorance....

My barrels are never loaded either. This is either bad reporting or bad law writing. In both cases it is bad writing.
To: suzy02
Well, I guess if one has a muzzleloader one can say the barrel is “loaded.” But other than that....

What, you think that someone in the press might not understand firearms? Where else are you going to read about cop killer, pump action, full auto machine revolvers?

How does this NOT infringe on people’s right to travel?
And isn’t it also an infringement on 2A stuff?

It sounds much like the crappy law in California. I had to keep all my firearms unloaded and in locked cases and in my locked trunk between my home and the range. Ammo was kept in my range bag. Under those circumstances I could "travel". It certainly infringed on my right to "bear". That which is unloaded and locked away is perfectly useless for self defense.

I grew up in Iowa and went hunting and shooting all the time.
Its become extremely liberal. IMO its the decades of farm subsidies that have destroyed any notion of personal responsibility.

This is true. Now, what about the USSC ruling that the Police do NOT have the obligation to help you... in other words, they stripped you of even the idea/pretense that the police are, as an organization, right?, even concerned about you as a person.

Thank God for Texas. Amen to that.
I continue to encourage all conservative patriots to relocate to Texas, the native land of freedom, wealth, guns, and George Strait.
