WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States will review "the pace of development" of its missile defense shield in Europe if Russia agrees to help stop Iran from building a nuclear bomb, a senior U.S. official said on Friday.
The official was speaking as U.S. Undersecretary of State William Burns was in Moscow to push ahead with Washington's vow to hit the "reset button" on U.S.-Russian relations and halt a drift in relations.
"If we are able to work together to dissuade Iran from pursuing a nuclear weapons capability, we would be able to moderate the pace of development of missile defenses in Europe," a senior U.S. administration official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
"The impetus for the deployment of the missile defense systems is the threat from Iran. If it is possible to address that then that needs to be taken into consideration as you look at the deployment of the system," the official said.

Sorry Czech Republic, we know you risked ticking off Russia in the assumption we would protect you by agreeing to let us put up a shield, but there’s a new sheriff in town and he could care less.

Should be corrected to read: “US will scrap missile defense in exchange for a vague promise from the Russians about some help about Iran.”
Everything Obama does seems deliberate to destroy us. It’s not even a pretend game anymore.
Herself said this covertly the other day “it depends on iran”, now they say it overtly. two-facedness; weakness.
Clinton had huge Asian money hit his trusts and speaking circuit after he gave rocket and missile guidance technology to China whose missiles in the past could not reach anywhere past Alaska even if they didn't blow up on the launching pad.
So now Clinton enabled China to target and hit any city in the USA successfully which was not in our interest.
You have to figure where Barry thinks he can get great retirement money and then see what he is willing to do to acquire it.
People wanted to limit CEOs to the 400k the President makes as reasonable compensation, but the Presidents get tens if not hundreds of millions upon leaving the White House and the CEOs don't have that equal opportunity.

Russia is already helping Iran....build a nuclear reactor which we know will produce fissle material for their nuclear weapons program.
Instead, we should be asking Russia to STOP helping Iran if they want us to withdraw the ABM project from Poland and Czechosolvakia.
In other words, we are prepared to leave the Czech Republic hanging in the wind, show the World that we don’t keep our commitments, that were are cowards, back down to Russia and further degrade our own security.
Our country is run by morons of the worst kind.

Guys, in the Obama teams defense (shock!), they’re putting the onus — or at least starting to put the onus — on Russia to do something about Iran and shifting it away from the missile shield.
I agree, Obama should make set a more concrete and explicit condition than “you promise to try to do something about Iran” and make this condition more results-based and set clear markers for Russia.
But let’s give these people some credit for reaffirming the reason the missile defense system is being installed in place in the first place.
I frankly expected Oabama to abandon the whole thing without conditions, so I’m pleasantly surprised by these comments...and, no, I dont expect that to happen again any time soon.
