“How many souls on board?” I believe they all had souls.

Reminds me of the corny joke Gramps used on us kids every time he drove us by a cemetery. He’d say “Hey kids, how many dead in that cemetery?” after we’d start estimating the count of headstones he’d say “ALL of them!”.

No, the Brits are on the wrong side, right?

I thought the same thing. Down in the very last paragraph they say they did NOT lose the subs or the crews. It’s a “what if”. Geez. Leave it to the Brits to be cryptic.

Based upon the writeup I doubt there were any serious injuries if any at all.

"Suggestion is that the anti sonar technology hid them from each other."

You mean it wasn't sonar failure caused by GLOBAL WARMING? Just wait a few days; everything bad is caused by Global Warming.

“could have sunk or released deadly radioactivity, it emerged last night.”

This is really a poor choice of words...

"Is it possible that they were being environmentally sensitive and not using their best sonar to avoid offending the sea people."

I think a more likely scenario was that the Brits were hammered and the French were fornicating with themselves - sorry all Brits.

LOL! Since nothing bad happened (except for a few bruised egos and the end of two navel careers) this is funny!

And if these guys were Americans the world would be gloating.

One note - whatever you may think of certain of the policies of the nations involved, both these vessels are crewed by men who have chosen to serve in their nations military, putting themselves in harms way for something they believe in.

A funny joke is a funny joke and if you think of one, I know it’s hard not to share it - and personally I’ve made plenty of ‘insensitive’ jokes myself because they were too funny not to share. But please, even if you make the jokes, remember these are men who’ve put their lives on the line for a reason. Joke about them, sure. But respect them too.

There is a LOT to this that does NOT pass the smell test.

I used to be totally against conspiracies but I am beginning to wonder more and more as to how much of the news we hear is the cover story.

(Tinfoil hat alert) If I go into full conspiracy mode right now, I think that the French and British subs were participating JOINTLY against a common threat (Chinese subs in the Altantic?) and this is the result of that interaction.

The question is if this is what happened to the British and French boats what do you think happened to the oppposing boat.

BTW, for all that do not know, the Vanguard class of subs that the Brits have are the third largest subs (by displacement) ever made after the Soviet Typhoons and the Yankee Ohio class subs

The problem with knowing how many souls on board is that we aren’t sure that all French have souls.

I'd bet even money that the Subs were involved in Hare and Hound or “Find the weeny”....

They both lost.....

In any event — both Captains brought their careers to a speedy conclusion...
