WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. military will begin recruiting immigrants with special skills who are in the United States on temporary visas, offering a chance to become citizens in as little as six months, The New York Times reported.
A report on the newspaper's website on Saturday said it would be the first time since the Vietnam War that the armed forces would be open to temporary immigrants, provided they have lived in the United States for at least two years.
Immigrants with permanent resident status, or "green cards," are eligible to enlist in the U.S. military.

This is a terrible idea. And yes, I do think it is meant to fill the military with people whose primary loyalty is not to the US.

Ogabe’s just starting up an American Foreign Legion. I hear there are a lot of Saudis with specialized skills in blowing up lots of civilians in tall buildings using jet planes. Maybe he’ll put them on the payroll.

Absolutely. I’ll go. I tried after 9/11. They had a good laugh. I can out shoot any of them.

and now they are casting around for ‘foreigners’?
Shame on them . Older folks can not only shoot , but drive better (in many cases) and are not compelled by the same
urgent youthful drives , don’t miss home as much , and are not so concerned about what they might miss out on in life if....
