Obama plans campaign more to pressure Republicans in Congress rather than win their loyalty,

WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama plans to travel and campaign more to pressure Republicans in Congress rather than trying to win their loyalty, sources say.

Now that a mammoth, $787 billion economic stimulus bill has been approved virtually without Republican support, White House advisers have determined that Capitol Hill horse-trading with GOP opponents wasn't successful and that Obama should instead tap his immense popularity and public salesmanship skills to push legislation in the future, the Washington publication Politico reported Saturday.

"We've got to get him out of that White House," a unnamed top White House adviser said, listing "some very valuable lessons" learned from the stimulus fight. "He's happier, he's better, he's more effective. The inside game is important, but it's actually not where the success of his presidency is going to come."

Obama plans to use the tactic in upcoming pushes to pass New Deal-style plans to rescue struggling homeowners and rewrite regulations on the financial markets, plus a budget proposal that lays the groundwork for sweeping healthcare reform, Politico said.

That popularity will start dropping like a rock as the bailouts don't work. Lets see how the people react to another bail out of the auto industry. He has nine lives and he used up a couple in the last two weeks. Even the MSM will not be able to continue to cover for him

And, he’ll get it. All the folks here who think the polls about his popularity are bogus, need to think again. The nation is under a strong delusion.

Ditto:Except Rino’s.

The MSM is not daydreaming, they have an agenda, and,in my opinion, it is not in the self-interest of the Republic.

I’m happy for you Fred. Nothing like a new tag line and a good one to boot!

Must admit that I’m not happy about his little jaunt on Wednesday...see, he’s coming to the Phoenix area (Dobson High School in Mesa, AZ). This is too close to home.

My husband just informed me that people are already lining up for tickets. I don’t know at this point if he’s going to talk to the students or his dimwitted followers. Regardless, I swear to God I wish I had a child in that school so I could make a big deal out of keeping him/her home that day.

How much is this little visit going to cost us? How dare he waste our money when any news station would gladly give him air time? This “in your face” crap has got to stop.

This does offer a wonderful opportunity to “freep” the POS. I’ll be out of town then (dang it) but will be following the “story” on my lap top. I always miss the fun.

Here’s hoping his version of FDR’s “fire side chats” fall flat.

What is he still campaigning for?

When will this two faced S.O.B. quit with the damn campaigning !! I can't recall nonstop coverage of a new president like this ever before. I think people are going to get sick of his puss rather quickly with this overexposure.

I think he and Michelle should spend their date nights at the theatre.

This tactic, in and of itself - a sitting president going into districts of dissident congressmen and blasting them to their constituents - is nothing new. It was popularized by none other than Franklin D. Roosevelt himself.

If only his agenda was as benign as this particular tactic, he might not have to bother to get some of the GOP support he craves.

Notice Obama's first trips were to Elkheart, Indiana and Peoria, Illinois, both places that have had devastating financial and job losses from Dem policies.

Is this a victory parade, JJ?

Win Republican loyalty to the most left wing and inexperienced president in 150 years? Who's stupid enough to buy that noise?

What it really means:
“We've got to get him out of the White House. He's already bored and the Republicans here aren't all fools like the DUmmies and sheep that think he's their savior. He's getting grumpy, he's showing what a pr*ck he is and the press is going to start picking up on it. Michelle is being a raging lunatic cooped up in the White House with no pay. Rahm can handle the inside game, zer0 wants to travel, appeal to the zombies so we let him. After all, it's on their dime, so who cares? Plus he would really like to try to hook up with Beyonce or Will Smith and he can't do it here”.

. He’s going to be on the campaign trail for four years.

That may be a good thing. People will get tired of him, many already are. Then they begin to feel foolish and see him for what he is. Then the media begins to get pissed because he won’t answer their questions, he gets snarky, this could be a blessing.

If we know ahead of time when President Chimpy is in the area maybe good protests can be organized. The problem will be getting close enough to the event.you know how dems keep those who disagree far far away.

Yes and right into jail. Let’s get the dang birth certificate. If only we could get behind Orly and her efforts to get this out. There was a long article on this topic last night here on the site.
