THE DEADLY TOLL OF VACCINE HYSTERIA
New York Post ^ | 16 feb 09 | SCOTT GOTTLIEB

THE idea that a preservative once used in vaccines is to blame for rising autism rates has just been authoritatively debunked - again. Indeed, some of the key early "evidence" now stands exposed as fake.

Sadly, none of this will kill this myth - because it was never based on good science.

--having been raised back in the dark ages when almost everyone got vaccinated ,except for a few children whose parents were religiously opposed, I am of the opinion that childhood vaccination was one of the few government programs that ever worked for the overall good of society---

I agree.

The luddites will attack us, however, calling us insensitive, various other names, and seeking to blame all their problems on us.

The OTHER problem not mentioned is that these vaccines are STRONGER and MORE are given to kids BEFORE their IMMUNE SYSTEMS are MATURE. So, you roll the dice and hope for the best. Some are lucky and some are not.

Even with the death of children on their bloody hands, the anti-vaccination fanatics remain totally delusional, totally without a clue.

Many of these poor souls have autistic family members, and are heart-breakingly manipulated by evil charlatans like Andrew Wakefield and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

I've refused vaccines for my daughter without reservation such as for pneumonia or this other one ... forget the name for ovarian cancer. They are using the cover of “vaccines are good” to load up kids with vaccines they do NOT need. I forget the exact number but many kids before kindergarten get either 20 or 30 vaccines. This is a FAR CRY from the FEW that were required in earlier days. It's insane what is REQUIRED today.

In recent years autism has been blamed on everything from discarded iPod batteries to mercury from Chinese power stations, from antenatal ultrasound scans to post-natal cord clamping, from diet to vaccines,” Fitzpatrick said in a statement.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has launched a long-term study to find the causes of autism and other childhood conditions.

The biggest single reason I have seen for the “increase” in autism, is that the government offered extra money for “autistic” children, so the criteria for what it took to be “autistic” was watered down such that many who would previously been diagnosed (if at all) with “autistic tendencies” now are diagnosed with full blown autism.

Autism has existed from the beginning of humanity, it is most likely the far end of a continuum with most normal people in the middle, the artsy fartsy flake at one end, and the rigid autistic at the other end.

—I got my first smallpox immunization when I was six weeks old (my dad was diagnosed with it-one of several in SW Wisconsin at the time) and still had to get them about every five years or so—they did swell up and gave us rural kids something to show each other, especially if you picked the scab off—

I agree totally with you.
I am not anti-vaccine. I’m conservative about loading my kids up with chemicals.

We don’t do flu shots either. Every time I’ve gotten one, I’ve ended up sick as a dog.

Everyone’s probably heard about this - the person who won a lawsuit regarding vaccinations and autism - links to some prexisting condition - but still - how do we know which children have the conditions?

I’ve had flu shots for 35 years. Never had the flu. Never had a reaction. But I guess that’s just me and everybody I know.

Same here.

There is no way we'd load up on flu shots!

Nearly 99% of the time it is the WRONG STRAIN and they don't exempt you from the flu. The elderly should definitely NOT get those shots.

The GERMS are STRONGER than what they used to use in the “old days” and now there are TOO MANY STRONG GERMS being injected into little kids with immature immune systems. It's a game of Russian Roulette.
It's too bad this article doesn't address THOSE ISSUES.

Look, just a couple of weeks back we saw right here on FR an article about scientific research that assigned blame for most cases of autism on prior abortions performed on the mother of the child.

Not surprising that women into abortion would want to blame something or someone other than themselves for their kids' problems.

Death of children?
I lived through chicken pox, all measles (including rubella) and mumps.
My niece had Whooping cough (got it as an infant before the second immunization)

Homeschoolers have Chicken Pox parties to pass it around.

No one died. I’m not anti-vaccine but isn’t that statement a bit dramatic?

“The biggest single reason I have seen for the “increase” in autism, is that the government offered extra money for “autistic” children”

1000% accurate.

I especially like shy boys all now being "Asperger's Syndrome." The hyper-diagnosis crowd even includes such well-know failures as suffering "Aspergers": Albert Einstein, Bill Gates and Issac Newton.

-—DPT,smallpox and a separate tetanus shot due to a scratch , then when polio shots arrived, they were considered a gift from heaven--we all stood in line for that one—(one of my boyhood acquaintances, a neighbor's nephew died of polio about 1950)

I believe you are correct.....except. Vaccines, on their own for a given problem, worked just fine. But statements have been made that when they combined many vaccines together, that’s where the problem came in. I hear that some doctors will not give the all in one vaccine. They spread out the shots, over time, so there are no problems. My question at this point is, has this theory been tested? If not, why not.
