What percentage of the members your religion voted for the abortion president? There is something about a Bible verse that says take the log out of your own.....
Pelosi to Pope: Thanks for the free publicity, SUCKER.
And lose half of American membership?
This is GREAT! The pope himself corrects Pelosi regarding her incorrect public comments about the Catholic Church's position on abortion made during the primaries. The only thing better then this, is her public excommunication after she fails to heed the words of the pope at that meeting! : )
I would think that when the Pope has a private meeting with a putative Catholic, such as he has just done with Pelosi, in order to personally instruct her that a Catholic cannot support abortion, then excommunication is a logical consequence of her continued willful disobedience. No?
There is no scientific polling on the subject.
So smart of the pope. Pelosi would have used it for political purposes to further endear herself to Catholics.
Of course not! : )
That’s usually what happens in the case of clergy and heads of state. If it were just one of us we’d get a form letter from the archdiocese via the parish priest.
In matters of faith and morals, the Pope’s opinion is not a suggestion. It means you either are one with the Church or you excommunicate yourself. She has had two warnings, and I would imagine she will now be faced with the decision — what means more to her — her religion or her stance on human rights. Any bets on which one she chooses????
It’s a shame that there’s even a question.
Speaking as a Catholic, I hear you. I find it absolutely disgusting that any true Catholic would even consider voting for BHO. The Democrat Party platform and the Catechism of the Catholic Church are diametrically opposed to eachother.
There are two points that I would like to make:
(1) It is important to distinguish between practicing Catholics and non-practicing Catholics. The ones who do practice their faith and attend Mass regularly are significantly more conservative than those who are Catholic in name only (CINOs). I would be interested in seeing the breakdown in the polling data on how the PRACTICING Catholics actually voted as opposed to the entire universe of Catholic voters.
(2) Many people, unlike those of us who are very political, SEPARATE their religious practices from their political practices. Most of us who are Freepers, would probably prefer to be associated with a religious faith which more or less comports with our political values. But most people who are not very political see no compelling need to do this. Religion, like political party, is something we normally inherit from our forebearers. Most Catholics are ancestrally Democrats and this may account why so many of them continue to vote Democrat.
There are many other anamolies in the realm of politics and religion. Here is one: The Republican Party and the Conservative Movement, generally speaking, is much more pro-Israel and the Democrat Party and the Left. Yet most Jewish people continue to vote overwhemingly Democrat even if the guy’s middle name happens to be Hussein.
I'm calling “Stockholm Syndrome”. Wha’d’ya think?
"Can you finda da Pope wit a da Pelosi?"
:o)
I like it.
I would also love to see statistics for Catholic voting based on diocese. Some bishops were much more outspoken about what Catholics should consider when voting, and talked openly about what O stood for. In other dioceses, like my own, there was only fuzzy stuff about how we should vote for life, but not clearly talking about who stood for what. And God forbid the media being very clear about where O really was on the pro-abort scale. So a lot of people here (Atlanta) voted on racial lines and professed not to even know O’s abortion stance.
Agreed. Your right!
