JERUSALEM - Far-right politician Avigdor Lieberman endorsed Benjamin Netanyahu for Israeli prime minister on Thursday, all but guaranteeing that Netanyahu will be the country's next leader.
The divisive Lieberman emerged as the kingmaker of Israeli politics after the Feb. 10 election produced a deadlock between its two largest parties, and his backing of Netanyahu could be the basis for a hardline government.
Such a government could freeze peace talks with the Palestinians, hurt Israel's standing in the world and place it on a possible collision course with President Barack Obama, who has said Mideast peacemaking will be a top priority of his administration.

This is the best news I've seen come out of that area of the world in a long time. I sure hope it works out.
And -- dontcha just love that second paragraph?

Nice bit of unbiased journalism there, eh what? I took the liberty of putting in bold letters what is probably the biggest of the "crimes" in the author's eyes.

This is fantastic news. Anyone who "hurts their standing in the world" and is on a collision course with Obama/Hillary is on a true course.
Israel, you will have to hold up our flag while we are under occupation for a few years. We'll be back.

This is good news. Bibi will do what's best for Israel, not what's best for 0.

Thank you for my first laugh of the day. Israel’s “Standing in the world”? Surely you jest. Israel has NO standing in the world. It has committed the most heinous sin of all..it INSISTS on its right to EXIST. It INSISTS on its right to defend its citizens, its borders, and its sovereignty. Israel insists on continuing to live. To much if not most of the world, that denies it “standing”.

You notice, I'm sure, the massive coverage that this election is receiving in the msm.
If the broad was going to become the next PM, the election results would be on 24/7.
There is barely a mention of the results, the msm hate Bibi almost as much as they hate Bush.

Would the lefties and the Paulinistas consider me “unpatriotic” if I side with Israel over 0bama on this one?

Leave us "Paulinistas" out of it. I myself am a STRONG supporter of Bibi & have been so for many years...& I hope he kicks some Palestinian a$$ if they even
think the word "jihad".
Besides, those of us who respect Rep./Dr. Paul admire him because of his respect for the Constitution, his being strongly pro-life, liberty, free markets, etc. He puts McCain & the NeoCONS running the GOP to shame on those issues. Could THAT be the reason why he is so desipsed by them & people such as yourself?

Could THAT be the reason why he is so desipsed by them & people such as yourself? No, I just don't like Ron Paul because he is absolutely ignorant about foreign policy, in addition to his having a less than clear understanding of the Constitution on foreign policy related issues.
BTW, "Neo-Con" is a specifically foreign policy-related term which has nothing to do with free markets, abortion, or filial respect for the Constitution. You might want to keep that in mind before you just mindlessly blather off, next time.
To: Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus
No, Neo-Con is more than a foreign policy-related term. It covers most political issues, in fact....I guess you could call it "big government conservatism (sic)": -- Continuing the Welfare State, tho not to the degree that the Dims do; -- Promote the Warfare State, in order to "spread democracy" throughout the world (as if it's any of our business to do that! I thought the reason we had a military was for DEFENSE, & protect us from outside attack! Silly me); etc., etc. Maybe it would help if you read
"Neo-Conservatism" by Irving Kristol.

To: ChrisInAR
Nope, Neo-conservatism, as the term is used in common parliance (even by Paulistinians themselves) refers to people who are basically pro-Israel, pro-war in Iraq, and pro-assertive foreign policy, contra the neo-isolationism preferred by RoPaul. That’s the way the term is pretty much always used, or at least has been since 2003.
To: Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus
W/ the exception of our providing foreign aid to them (or any other country, for that matter), I'm VERY pro-Israel but NOT a neoconservative -- I'm a constitutional conservative (a species of conservatism that is becoming extinct, possibly?).

Sanity finally prevails in Israel. Maybe some of it will spread west, and in a hurry.
To: Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus
That is not the way it should be used. Use the term properly, or you play into the hands of the left and neo-isolationists.
I also find this amusing since actual neoconservatives are horrified by Lieberman.
