OKC officer pulls man over for anti-Obama sign on vehicle

An Oklahoma City police officer wrongly pulled over a man last week and confiscated an anti-President Barack Obama sign the man had on his vehicle.

The officer misinterpreted the sign as threatening, said Capt. Steve McCool, of the Oklahoma City Police Department, and took the sign, which read "Abort Obama, not the unborn."

Chip Harrison said he was driving to work when a police car followed him for several miles and then signaled for him to pull over.

''I pulled over, knowing I hadn't done anything wrong," Harrison said in a recent phone interview.

When the officer asked Harrison if he knew why he had been pulled over, Harrison said he did not.

Clinton used the IRS to go after his enemies.

"I would have told the Secret Service, who I greatly respect, to kiss my ass."

I would have told them that they could come in, but only if my lawyer was present and the whole episode recorded on my video camera.

Yeah, and I’d also love to have the sculpture of Winston Churchill that Britain gave the U.S. after 9/11 and Barack Hussein Obama reportedly sent back to them ‘cause HE didn’t want it. If that’s true, I suppose it’s ‘cause he imagines himself a better man than Churchill.

The officer should have been fired for stupidity.

No, he shouldn't. He should be fired for depriving a citizen of his right to free speech under color of law. Stupid is a side issue.

My God this is outrageous. Why isn’t this Gestapo agent’s name in the article?? Surely someone knows who it was. This jack booted thug needs to have the bright lights shown on him. Then he needs to be fired and have his pension revoked. A good old fashioned tarring and feathering sounds about right as well. One step closer to tyranny, and one step closer to revolution. Some day it will dawn on all of us, that we surround them.

I know someone that used to be a reserve Sheriff Deputy.
Reserve = unpaid, and had to ride with a regular deputy.

He told me once that if a car matched a certain profile, that he would pull the car over with the excuse that the car had a tail light that was intermittently not working. Very hard to prove otherwise.

I used to respect him.

There, now I can expect a visit from the Secret Service.

This is going more insane faster than even I thought possible.

Well, technically since OB is for live birth abortions, he might still be a candidate for one if his mom were alive.

It would be a good tagline, but I will not change mine. It is the reason we are all here.

"Clinton used the IRS to go after his enemies."

True. Back during Clinton's first Memorial Day in office, there was a movement to send postcards to the White House to tell him to stay home and not lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I sent several cards, and ended up being audited that following year, even though I used the short form. I often wondered if the audit wasn't connected to my having sent those cards. It would be interesting to see how many other folks who sent cards were audited too.

"You've got an officer who had a different thought on what the word 'abort' meant."

Obviously the officer was educated in the Marxist indoctrination camps we all know so well as "Public Schools."

In principle, you're right. But, for the rest of this guy's life he will have a file on him at the SS and the FBI. Regardless what the SS says to the man, he will forever be on a "watch" list of sorts.

Would be interesting to see what happens with his Form 4473 and NICS should he decide to purchase a firearm.

I certainly hope all Oklahomans contact whoever is the most effective, and raise a stink about this!

That said, let’s play “devil’s advocate” for a minute.

The Secret Service is charged to protect our President, no matter how big a lying socialist he might be. I have read that there have been more threats against President Obama than ever before.

I would assume we all want none of these threats to be followed through and/or succeed, for obvious reasons. Therefore, the Secret Service had no choice but to follow up.

About the warrant being required, I must admit that I am ignorant enough not to know whether the Secret Service requires a warrant. If I had nothing to hide, I would probably be intimidated enough to let them in without one, particularly if I had no evil intent, and nothing to hide.

But, my two Belgian Malinois might not be so friendly, so to protect their little furry faces, I would probably put them in their crates, once I has asked to see the Secret Agentmen’s bona fides, and made a call to whoever to make sure they were who they said they were.

If questioned as to why I was so concerned, I would tell them that too many bad guys out there are impersonating LE these days, and ya just can’t be too careful before opening your door to just anyone! And, I would be doing my very best to look at them suspiciously, as if they were impersonators.

I agree with the last statement, just not the initial two you made. I am very concerned that institutional policy within the police department and the SS led to this incident, not just a rogue officer who overstepped his bounds. There is plenty of blame to go around, but if the institutions are corrupt, then it matters not about what an individual may do carrying out its policies. Therein lies the danger you are talking about, i.e., the “Nazification of the USA” starts.

Except, I’m sure the Secret Service knew what the sign said anyway, and still chose to “visit” the house of a private citizen expressing his political opinion. Scary stuff.

How many cars with F the President did this cop pull over in the last 8 years?

That's one question that needs to be asked, here. I won't wait for it to be.

AFAIC, (at least assuming this article is correct, a big assumption to be sure) The Secret Service acted properly. They received a tip from local law enforcement that the president had received a threat. They checked it out, found nothing, and moved on. I'd argue that they'd be remiss NOT to check it out.

However - the idiot that made the original stop needs to have his badge shoved up his stupid incompetent ass. Normally, I side with cops, not this time.

Not that it matters a whole lot, but the race of the cop was left out. I bet I can guess it. And, if there was even a sniff of, erm, "caucasian racism", the race of the cop would be prominently mentioned.
