In the 40's/50's, where I grew up in Northern Virgina's Shenandoah Valley along the river -- we knew every black family within walking distance of our farm and there was not a "peckerwood", thief, drunkard or scalawag among them...
The ONLY segregation we experienced was in the Public Schools we attended... On the farms there was no separation among the children or their parents.... We stood as much chance of being raised, taught essentials or disciplined by our black neighbors as our own parents.....
People are very different now.....
One would have to admit that the KKK won after all....if you consider racial hate and segregation as their goal...
We are far more segregated now than then.....in every measure possible...
