Fresh off bailouts of the auto industry and big government, President Barack Obama is signaling that hes still in the mood for giveaways. This time he wants to give away American taxpayers money to bail out the failing embryonic stem cell research industry.
Recently, Obama offered his guarantee that he would soon sign an executive order lifting limits on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research (ESCR). But the only thing forcing taxpayers to fund unproven, life-destroying research will guarantee is a refueling of the culture wars Obama spent an entire campaign pledging to extinguish.
As with most issues related to science, the Left has won over public opinion on stem cell research by running a ruthless misinformation campaign. Most Americans believe the central question is whether or not ESCR should be outlawed. Sadly, thats not the case. The real question is who should pay for it. And as soon as the president signs the executive order, American taxpayers, many suffering economic hardship, will be on the hook for research that destroys human embryos and has shown itself ineffective.
The media is complicit in this misinformation campaign. Its been a decade since cell biologist James Thomson derived the first human embryonic stem cell line, and nearly eight years since President Bush signed an executive order allowing federal funding of embryonic research limited to already existing lines. But the media continue to distort the debate. Most media routinely fail to distinguish between fetal and embryonic stem cell research (which destroy life) and adult and umbilical cord stem cell research (which dont destroy life).

0bummer will bail out anything except success. That, he will mercilessly tax into failure. Then he’ll bail it out.
All Hail 0bummer!
Science? Come on. We’re talking OBama here.
The loon. That clown would stumble on the multiplication tables without a teleprompter.
Part of the Stimulus Bill is 400 Million for NASA to conduct Global Warming research. Not only is this a bad idea because it's 400 million wasted, because it won't stimulate much, but also because once NASA has a “program” with a budget and staff that is justified by doing research on this, do you really think they won't find something? He's going to create a program, and with it power, money, people and influence will grow for NASA, as a whole NASA will have a vested interest in keeping this program alive. Do these 400 million promote junk science? You bet! Like paper recycling which has never served the environment nor been economically viable, Obama is helping in fueling what amounts to junk science that will only be used to expand an entire industry that is already being built around this nonsense. -MHO

The author attempts to define what the "real" issue is, and then immediately goes off topic from that.
