A GROUP of foreign terrorism suspects, including Abu Qatada, were yesterday given compensation awards totalling nearly £23,000. The European Court of Human Rights handed Qatada – once described as "Osama bin Laden's right-hand man in Europe" – £2,500 and similar sums to eight other men.
Strasbourg judges ruled the government's policy of detaining the men without trial in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks had breached their human rights.
The men, who were arrested and taken to Belmarsh high security prison, were also handed costs of £53,000 – bringing the total bill to nearly £75,000.
Shadow home secretary Chris Grayling said: "This decision will horrify most reasonable people in the UK.
"It shows just how incompetent the government has been at managing the problem of preachers of hate and, frankly, it makes a mockery of the concept of human rights if we can't protect ourselves against people who are out to destroy our society."

Horrible. This is what we can expect if they close Gitmo. What a mockery. Just as in 9/11, they use our own system against us. Gitmo prevents this from happening.

You probably already know this but AQ actually instructs their jihadi’s to use our system against us in their training manuals. They also instruct jihadi’s to claim they have been tortured and starved if captured! These training manuals date back to the Clinton years.

I just heard that an executive order has been issued which removes that part of the Patriot Act allowing law officers to carry concealed through out the US. Also the part where they could carry on planes.
We are so screwed.
This cowardly capitulation will be interpreted by terrorists around the world for exactly what it is: Surrender. With this decision Europe has lost the war against Islamic terror. It is not hyperbole to say that the United States now stands alone.
