How to Organize Your Own “Tea Party” Protest
The Conservative Revolution ^ | 2-21-2009 | Brendan Steinhauser

Posted on 02/20/2009 8:44:43 PM PST by bstein80

The internet is abuzz with chatter about organizing protests around the country to put an end to this madness on Wall Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. But I’ve talked to many people out there who have never organized a protest, and so they don’t have a clue where to begin.

Here are 10 simple steps that you can follow to organize a protest in your own community. If you want more help, just send me an email at bsteinhauser@freedomworks.org and I’ll work with you one on one to help make your protest a success.

1. Pick a location, date and time in your town. I’d suggest main street at an intersection with lots of traffic.

2. Tell your friends, family, co-workers and everyone else you know about the protest. Build an rsvp email list so that you can provide quick updates if something changes. You should also create a facebook group so that the group can communicate with one another.

3. Make 5-10 signs with legible slogans that send a clear message to the public and the media. Write in BIG LETTERS.

4. Call your local talk radio hosts and ask them to announce the location, date and time on the air for a few days leading up to the protest. Send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper announcing the protest. Email the bloggers in your area and ask them to post a notice about the protest.

5. Write a press release and email, mail and fax copies to the local tv stations, radio stations and newspapers. Call the reporters that cover local events or politics and leave messages on their voice mail.

6. On the day of your protest, show up with your group, be loud, visible, happy and engage the public. Wave your signs, make lots of noise and move around to get attention. If reporters interview you, give them some good sound bytes for their stories. Stay on message and keep your answers short and coherent.

7. Bring sign-in sheets to capture the names, emails and phone numbers of everyone who attends the protest and/or says that they support what you are doing. You will then have a big list of people that can plan the next, much bigger and louder, event. Also bring handouts with one page of quick facts about why you are protesting in the first place.

8. Add your pictures, video and an after-action report to your facebook group, and send this stuff to the bloggers and reporters that you originally contacted. Ask them to post the photos, story and video.

9. Thank everyone who attended via email and phone, and set up a meeting to plan your next event. Now you have a list of people in your community that can help make the next protest huge. Encourage everyone to commit to bring at least one friend to the next protest.

10. Organize a carpool and go find a friend in your neighboring town or county and help them organize a protest there. You and your people are now veterans and should be able to keep the momentum going around your area.

Email me if you have any questions or want some ideas for signs. bsteinhauser@freedomworks.org

Good luck!

It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds. — Samuel Adams

“The Phone lines were in meltdown and it got us nowhere.”

In fact we made tremendous headway. In the middle of the Obamaloveinfatuationkissypooearnibblingfest by the MSM the telephone revolt 100-1 against the “Stimu-lie” did in fact cause recognition of the fact America didn’t want the damned thing.

Though the Socialists passed it anyway with the help of three known RINO’S whom shouldn’t be allowed to fly the “R” flag from the tips of their umbrellas, the result was that the MSM, the Blogosphere, publications of various sorts all recognized either there was money to be made selling the news that America is Pissed off, or that in fact there are enough Americans unenamored with Obama and his Socialist Marxist Follies that it is OK to attack.

Up to the point of the public melting those telephone wires it was understood as bad poo poo to say negatives against “The One”.

So it’s OK to grab that sign and tell it like it is.

Ahem, probably another name would be more fitting.

Keep this one and you'll have about 10,000 men in revealing attire show up thinking it's a public orgy.

But when people do get involved and “feel better” it solidifies their belief that they are part of the struggle and they will involve themselves again, bringing others. It builds.

Since we are posting here we are wide open. Not that is anything wrong with that.

But we still got it. Trust me things will get better but it will cost alot. More than I want to pay at this point in my life.

A puckish little idea...

Whenever you are out & about, on foot; carry a piece or railroad chalk. Should you come across a home or car that still displays an OBama sign, pull out that fat piece of Chalk.
Write “who is John Galt?” on the adjoining sidewalk.

Acorn uses spray paint, we should use chalk.

Um, no. This isn't like The Boston Tea Party or any other tax revolt in our great US history. Our founding fathers had a much more hands on approach to government protests that I doubt our current wimp infested society will ever be able to imagine. Oh yes, the good old days are long gone.

I don't use either. A boot up the ass may be appropriate at times however.

Do you happen to recall the ‘60’s war protesters, the racial protests or the “gay” protests when streets where packed with those people? Were they successful in getting their point across? I rest my case.

We have thousands (millions) who are frustrated that our rights are being trampled and I can tell you from experience... It’s cathartic and it gets us coverage.

Not to mention, it’s good for the soul to meet other decent people who share our principles. It’s also GREAT for networking with like-minded people.

But you do whatever you wish. Just please don’t rain on our parade (pun intended).

Another idea is to send tea bags through the mail, similar to the “Mail a Brick” campagin to build the wall on the border. These actions in concert would send the message needed.

A waste of time.

All such stunts do is make the people involved feel like they’ve done something. They may feel better, but this solves no problems.

Better to quietly and with great determination start recruiting strong candidates and get ready to take Congress back.

We have a year to get it together.

That Boston Tea Party which inspired similar events in other coastal towns seemed to have been a fairly effective stunt. The collective tea-dumping caused Britain's prime minister to overplay the government's hand via the Coercive Acts. Remember what happened after that?

I think we can make our outrage known both on the streets and in the ballot boxes. Additionally, a quiet but noticeable civil protest would be if we were to refuse to pay taxes and fees; that would get our erstwhile representatives' attention in short order. The MSM would have a hard time ignoring that much going on.

So in other words you suggest we sit and do nothing hoping it all just go away just like so many Germans did in 1938.

“The Phone lines were in meltdown and it got us nowhere. “

On the contrary. The rat traitors are afraid to show their faces at town meetings back in their states. Those that do are getting blasted. You can smell their fear.

This is one of many signposts we need to mark in order to take back our country.
