National Guard scraps plans to invade rural town

DES MOINES, Iowa – Following publicized reports that the Army National Guard was planning a military training exercise on the streets of a rural Iowa town, the commanding officers have called off the mock "invasion."

The Guard had planned a four-day urban military operation in tiny Arcadia, Iowa, population 443, sending troops to take over the town and search door-to-door for a suspected weapons dealer.

The exercise was designed as a mock scenario to give soldiers the skills needed for deployment in an urban environment, and military officials stressed that only households that consented to be part of the drill would be searched.

"It will be important for us to gain the trust and confidence of the residents of Arcadia," Sgt. Mike Kots, readiness NCO for Alpha Company, told Carroll's Daily Times Herald. "We will need to identify individuals that are willing to assist us in training by allowing us to search their homes and vehicles and to participate in role-playing.

"We really want to get as much information out there as possible," Kots continued, "because this operation could be pretty intrusive to the people of Arcadia."

Military spokesman Lt. Col. Greg Hapgood, however, told WND that the operation has now been "scaled back" and no longer involves an "invasion" of Arcadia.

That link is worth a thread of it’s own, and contains a lot of hard-earned information about trying to survive an economic collapse from someone who’s done it.

Couple of key points:

-This was a National Guard unit, which would be potentially deployed in support of this type of op making it more sinister.

-Doesn’t the Commanding Officer think maybe there could be training time spent on something else, maybe natural disaster preparedness, NBC type training, or even getting ready to accomplish the unit's mission in a deployed environment.

-The most chilling is that we have all been puzzled about what has been going on in Iowa. Iowa seems to be acting more like a Northeastern state than a Midwestern. Seems like they are preparing for potential ops against their own.

Again: if they need a town they can build a prop-town.

They already have those. There is one on Ft. Hood.

Agreed on your comment #72. That was well stated.

It appears that panic-inducing words and actions are coming from all kinds of interest groups, from bankers to bureaucrats. Some of the poorer young lefty-greenies are getting cozy with more old fashioned survivalists and talking about preparing for calamity.

Me...? I promote gardening, cooking, saving, hobbies, repairs and do-it-yourself projects with the more sociable neighbors, including the hippies. We’re in a very remote area and don’t feel the need to go crazy on firearms like many of the city folks.

Also, let me point out, there are tons of great training opportunities near Iowa. One of the best MOUT facilities in the states is located in Indiana and Fort McCoy has terrific ranges as well.

This is absolute BS and I would seriously question the judgment of the Commanding Officer in this case.

Intersting that they choose a "weapons dealer." That is "in your face" bold of the jackbooted thugs.

That "weapons dealer" could be you or I in a few years, if we sell a gun to a friend without govt. permission.

If there was nothing amiss, they wouldn’t have backed off.

I tend to consider this episode to be the political equivalent to a military "probe" to test the "enemy reaction."

I hope they received their answer loud and clear.

Training exercises for the real thing of taking away pariotic American 2nd amendment gun rights. Osambo has his commie appointees working triple time in implementing a Zimbabwee take over in America.

Osambo really is a Mugabe, a changling who shows only his one eyed jack side covertly.

America is in for some real turbulent times with the BLT psuedo prez in office.

Just The Facts,

I question the value of kicking in American style storm doors and raiding Western frame houses for training for elsewhere. If you train for the mission like you are supposed to be fighting, seems to me there'd be some differences unless Western home construction is what they would be up against.

I am not sure how things are built elsewhere, but when I look at images of the debris/ruins of natural disasters and warfare in foreign countries, it looks as if methods and materials differ from here.

Now it’s OMG bury the guns...buy some fertilizer....DUUUUUDE!

Admin mod, I consider this guy to be a very nasty type of disruptor, who is now attempting to compare concern over our 2nd amendment rights with Timothy McVeigh by his "buy some fertilizer" comment.

You may decide not to ban this jerk, but please mark down his comments for future reference.

You are missing the whole premise for the concern. If this was an Afghani or Iraqi scenario, then yes, the Soldiers need to train, but suspected domestic weapons dealer???? The commanders assertions that he wanted the locals to get familiar with military urban ops. You are having a hard time distinguishing why people have problems with this and trying to tie it in to not supporting the troops. I could draw you a picture but I don't it would do any good.

“posse comitatus act” No soldiers can be used against American citizens to enforce law. “Posse Comitatus Act. And then with the assuredness of a gambler with aces up a sleeve, they would cite that Act: ‘Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army or the Air Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.’ (Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 1385) Simply put: a president is barred by law from deploying federal troops to the several states in a law enforcement role. That is why President Bush asked Governor Blanco of Louisiana to mobilize the Louisiana National Guard and formally ask for federal assistance, only to have her demur for 24 hours. The phrase posse comitatus, translated from Medieval Latin, means ‘power or force of the county.’ Derived from British Common Law, it refers to a body of men whom a sheriff can raise to help keep the peace.”

The BLT domestic terrorist organizations would not allow for their peeps houses(welfare income sponsored) to be searched.

These are Osambo’s peeps and are untouchable, so they need to go to a small town and roust the honky milita men&women.

I heard those automatic BB guns and sling-shots have an awesome amount of fire-power. Hell! those racist honkies are still clinging to their guns and religion, as we speak.

Perturb a commie, go to a gun show and buy lots of ammo + a couple more “ghetto proof home invasion shotguns.”

For God and Country,
NSNR
