For a reality check, head to Rasmussen.

My faith in polls are nil . . . NYT, Rasmussen or otherwise. They are all cooked in one way or the other.

that’s not the title...Reuters will only use that title in my dream world, where everything is sane and rational.

Posts should include the CORRECT title which, in this case, was not about a “Phony Cooked Poll”. If we all make up our own titles we won’t be able to avoid duplicate posts. It wastes everyone’s time. If you must doctor the title, then append your comments in brackets at the end.

Thank you.

Please do not alter the title from the original - it helps prevent duplicate postings because the original is what other posters will search for.

Al Gore has better credibility than the NYT.

polls are reliable in a sense...because they help shape public opinion. A self fulfilling prophecy.

not only that, but we also don’t want to give anyone the impression that Reuters is now a credible news organization.

So they just polled the employees of CBS and the NYT?

Because that's the only way this makes sense.

Because that's the only way this makes sense.

Not the only way. They could have just used some forged documents. They have some experience there.

All you have to do is look at the disparity between the Times poll and the ABC poll cited in the article (only 46% of “adults” believe the plan will benefit them directly) to know it’s a crock.

75 percent of Americans are optimistic about the next four years with him as president...

...and, yet, the CNN.com headline last week was...

Consumer confidence plunges

February's level falls back to November lows, as a majority think the economic downturn will last five more years.
