Time for a Tea Party?
The United States was born out of Revolution. After years of prosperity that has left us fat, apathetic and selfish, we appear to be on the cusp of a new Revolution. People are calling for another Boston Tea Party, but this time in several cities.
Those of us who pay attention to politics and current events are very disturbed by the cloak and dagger workings, power grabs and strong arm tactics of this Administration. We see an unprecedented spending spree on the part of the democrats in charge of our country at the moment. There are promises to reward those who have been irresponsible with their finances at the expense of those who have worked hard and paid their bills - often at personal sacrifice. There is no explanation as to where the money will come from. There are speeches that declare one thing while actions are exactly the opposite. There are big photo ops of signing some bills, while other bills are signed and passed outside of the publics knowledge.
What concerns me is that we might not be quite ready for the coming revolution (also known as a Tea Party). Those of us who watch this closely would love to see this turned around immediately to nip the coming pain in the bud. Many of us fear what this is going to do to our economy, to our children, to our beloved country. But we are the ones who pay close attention to current events. What about the average person who listens to 15 minutes of news a day and reads the headlines before rushing out the door to todays ballgame?
Most people arent hurting yet. At last not to the point they are prepared to make personal sacrifice to save our country. Most people dont really understand or are not aware of the real and present danger we are facing. Many are still flush with their excitement of the new cool dude President. Others just dont think about it one way or the other. People are generally concerned with their own lives than they are with the bigger picture.
Most certainly dont think that the freedoms, rights and prosperity we have lived with throughout the last few generations could come to an end. Americans often dont understand that our lifestyle is unheard of in the history of mankind and certainly not the average. Most think this is just the way life is for everybody. The Great Depression and World War II is ancient history and those who lived through it are dying off and very old. The greatest majority of those living in the United States today have no earthly idea what its like to REALLY suffer from poverty and want. Even our very poor are better off than the poor of the rest of the world.
My fear is that we arent quite ready for the Tea Party. I fear well be forced to fall down before the average person is ready to stand up to The Man and tell him (them) No taxation without representation as our forefathers did. We arent quite ready to experience sacrifice that isnt forced upon us.
My fear is that there will be a lot more loss, suffering and big government infringing on our lives before a real grass roots effort to stop the bleeding will take effect. My hope is that it wont be too late and we will be able to salvage our country before so much damage is done that the cure entail enormous sacrifice and pain.
Tea Parties are planned in 20 cities across the country this weekend. The weekend tea party schedules are below, thanks to Little Miss Attila.

Los Angeles, CA Friday, February 27, 2009 9:00am - 10:00am Santa Monica Pier ashleyingram86@gmail.com
[Purists will insist that Santa Monica is not part of Los Angeles. Fine, then: rumor has it that a handful of people will also be at the Federal Building in Westwood, on the South side of Wilshire, with signs, on "protest corner." That is in Los Angeles, but it appears that the crowd in Santa Monica will be larger. With a little thought one could go to Santa Monica in the morning, and still make it to Westwood for Friday night rush-hour traffic. Instigators include the Bear Flag League (Yay!), and KFI's John and Ken (Ugh!).]
I love it.
I’m sure the media will be all over it.
Sadly we have an appointment that cannot be broken.
Apparently this blog is trying to catalog all the events. Might be a good one to bookmark.

Friday - tomorrow
I will be at the Greenville SC event! It is supposed to rain but bring it on!!!!!
I should have said more on my last post but I sincerely hope that this one event is not the end of it. We MUST keep this issue alive. We MUST do this on an ongoing basis so it is not perceived as a “one time flash in the pan” event!!!
Just got this via FReepMail.
Pittsburgh Tea Party is at Market Square - we couldnt get the permit for Point State.
So meet us at Market Square on Friday at noon for the Pittsburgh Tea Party!
Please correct the original post, thanks!
FRIDAY IS NOT THE WEEKEND!

Besides Kansas city? Where?
BTW what do we hope to accomplish at these TEA Parties?
Are we going to vandalize something?
Are we going to burn money to show that it no longer has any value?
Why should the news cover these "Tea Parties" anyway?
If 100 people show up at some Government facility to protest the Stimulus package, what is that going to prove?
You posted it.
